Ukraine Embassy - cell phone storage

I know you're not allowed to have your phone with you inside the embassy.

For anyone that's been there recently (after they opened the new embassy), will they store the phone for you somewhere, or will they just not allow you to enter?

The instructions from interview appointment are kinda confusing:

All metal items as well as mobile phones, lighters, matches, etc. must be removed from pockets and presented

for security screening. Mobile phones must be turned off before entering the building and handed to the
guards

This makes it sound like they'll store it for you. But then it says:

The following items are not allowed inside the Consular Section: Bags or purses, except diaper bags and

wallets, backpacks, cell phones, suitcases, weapons, electronics such as notebooks, iPods, PDAs, etc.,
cameras, cosmetics, food and drinks, liquids, documents in non-transparent folders (only transparent thin
folders are allowed), and medication (pills, sprays, syringes, etc.). This list is not exhaustive. Other items may
be prohibited at the discretion of security staff.
There is no facility at the Embassy to store prohibited items. You must make arrangements to store these items
before entering.

This makes it sound like they won't store it for you.

So which is it? Should we leave our cell phones in the hotel or whatever when we go, or is it ok to bring them?

the guards store your items at the check point before entering the embassy. so do not carry too much unnecessary items. you can carry you phone and the guards with store it for you. it is best you carry it, you may get an emmergency and you need it.

My fiancée was there a few days ago for her interview, she said they don't allow anything but paper documents, sounds like they held her phone, laptop, camera and her Zip disk also. She was very impressed by the "Strong" America.
