Getting an interview date

I have just spoken to 2 different people about what to do to get an interview date.

I got told the following steps:

Fill in DS260 online at https://ceac.state.gov/ceac and that you can't do the online account set up without it, but when I filled in the form all it said to me was the next steps were to fill in DS230 parts 1 and 2 and to send off to the consulate. Which I have already done so?

So I just went ahead and set up my account at usvisa-info.com, selected my courier service which was still DX and have payed my MRV and am now waiting for an interview date. I am going to call the embassy now to find out about my interview date because this whole new system has completely confused everything grrrr... how many bloody more loops are we supposed to jump through!!!

Oh also it takes 3 business days for the payment to transfer THEN you are to book your own interview date.

Tracy&Greg did you hear about this? It seems we're not supposed to just sit and wait for it...ClockWatch2.gif

Tracey&Greg read this post I wrote too after I sent that one:

I am on VJ every day and I saw that there were some issues with couriers etc and I was also curious with my case status etc so I went rummaging around on various sites.

On the London Embassy site it now states you have to fill in form DS260, I thought '####### another form!?" when I went to where the form was located (ceac.state.gov/ceac) I couldnt figure out my invoice ID, so I decided to call the embassy (contact number 0203 608 6998) and the people on there deal with the usvisa-info.com site info. This was the first I realised there was such a site! He told me I had to set up an account in order to pay MRV, do courier and book my appointment... but in order to do so I HAD to fill in the DS260 form, but he couldn't help me with the Invoice ID because he didn't know where to find it either gaaah! I hung up and decided to do some rummaging. I chose to put in a wrong Invoice ID number and luckily a red alert came up saying contact the NVC if you have forgotten it!

So I called the NVC in new hampshire (tel: +1 (603) 334-0700), which wasn't too long a wait as they had just opened. The lady did the checks and I asked her for it and she just gave it to me.

So I went back and filled in the DS260 and all it said was that I had to fill in DS230 parts 1 and 2 and send to the embasy, which I have done so already, so got more confused, and decided to check my case status instead which told me that all was fine with my case and that I now just had to wait for an interview!!! So contradicting info about waiting for interview and scheduling an interview.

In the meantime I checked my email, i had gotten a transaction complete email from the usvisa people and when I went back to check my account it said my status was at 'attend interview' stage... but what interview date?? So I called them up, this is when I got told that I should check over the next 3 days as it takes that long to clear the transaction and that once it's done I can schedule an interview, hmmm not sure about all this so I called the embassy main number 0207 49990000 and the lady there simply said that I had to wait about another 2 weeks for my interview date. So again conflicting info!!!

Right now I'm going to just wait for a few days and try everyone again on Monday and see what has happened.

I had my medical on the 22nd so it's been a while so my case is all in their system. I'm hoping its on the new system and I can go ahead and book my interview date.

Let me know if you hear anything different!

I am at the stage where I want to book a visa interview date and pay the fee for it. As far as I DID understand it I should send the DS forms along with the 2001 (which I have done) and wait for the embassy to send me an interview date. (which I am doing)

However, this whole website thing has now confused me. Am I wrong to wait for a date? am I supposed to do it myself on the new website? is that the only way to do it?

I have created an account on www.usvisa-info.com but I cannot 'add applicant' as I do not have my 'post assigned appointment date'. I do not know what this is or where I find this information. Is this the actual interview date they are asking for? if so, how can I book an interview if I need the interview date? I MUST be missing something here.

I also tried to use the https://ceac.state.gov/ceac website mentioned here but it asks for an invoice ID#. Where do I get that information? Do I need to use this website at all?

Thank you for any help

Robert

Gee--

I think you were given spouse information. The DS-260 can be used by certain people with I-130 petitions and only at certain consulates. London isn't on the list here but may be transitioning to it. See this link for the details. http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_5164.html

I replied in the other thread and don't know if you saw it. This reply http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/445239-feeling-anxious-and-worried/?p=6414408

Nich-Nick I read all that too, but the guy on the phone was adament I filled in the form, but I think you're right I reckon it's not accurate at all. Hence I still went and filled in the account information on the usvisa-info site.

The only issue I have right now is that I don't know who is sorting out the interview date, but as I'm impatient I'll get to the bottom of this sooner rather then later :) I'll keep everyone updated.

vantasticvoyge to get you Invoice ID number just called the NVC on the phone number I listed in my post. Best to put some money into skype and call them that way, it's not too expensive and if you call our time 1-2pm it's early there and not too busy.

I'm exactly at this stage too but, while filling out the form as a new applicant, I can't find the option "K1 Fiance" in the scroll down list. There's anything BUT that! Has this happened to anyone before?? I don't know how to carry on...please help!!!

Sorry if you've gotten your answers.

K-1 applicants only fill out a DS-160. It's under Immigrant visa.

You won't be able to pay for the visa fee or the courier until you've filled out the DS-160, submitted the readiness form to London, had your medical results logged at the consulate, and had your interview scheduled. But London won't schedule your interview without those first three things done. You do not schedule your own appointment.
