usually, folk get the Consular Casefile # from NVC by using a telephone, calling in to NVC when they are open .

If you just got approved at USCIS today, expect a wait of at least 3 weeks, possibly 6, possibly 8, before NVC receives it and logs it in, then another week for NVC to generate a Consular Casefile Number.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

So once Consular case file number is generated it is on its (our case file) to the consulate?
