More nonsense.

Why do I need to "take a stand" on history? It is what it is. I can't change it. I believe in a fair trial for anyone accused of a crime and I respect the verdict of the system we have. It is what we wanted to protect everyone.

A hoodie doens't scream thug, at least it shouldn't. I have 2 at home. Also, there were no interaction between GZ and TM until after he followed him. If he had approached him from the beginning, maybe there wouldn't be any altercation.

A hoodie alone may not, but a hoodie combined with (allegedly) walking in a suspicious manner might. If I put on a hoodie and walked like a gangster, I guarantee you that I could look equally or more suspicious than TM, without being black.

What would Xenu do?

So what is suspicious about walking at night looking about and at houses? If he was in someone's yard peering into a window, I could give you that. But he was walking home on a cell phone. Not breaking into someone's house, not doing anything criminal.

Walking around and talking in a cell phone while looking at houses... at night... in the rain... alone... when you're a young man?

It's just weird. I still don't understand why he'd be looking at houses in the first place -- why not go straight home? It's raining.

By the way, where do you draw the line at race/racial profiling? If he's walking like a gangster, speaking ebonics on the cell phone, I would profile him as more likely to be a criminal (but probably fun to hang out with), as well. But I would profile an asian guy talking on the cell phone in ebonics and walking like a gangster the same way.

Depends. How hard was it raining? Was it a downpour? Or a misty rain? If he was on the phone, it couldn't have been raining too hard. Plus, he had no tools, no weapons, nothing. There was nothing illegal with what he was doing.

Not illegal at all, and GZ overstepped his boundaries and made a horrible decision by confronting him. But, he could have very well looked suspicious, and it could have very well not been because of what color his skin was, but based more on how he was walking, stopping and looking at houses, etc.

I think it could be where I live, but I just don't see color as that big of a deal. I don't want my stepkids to be friends with kids who look like they are in gangs -- Hispanic gangs, black gangs, white biker gangs, whatever. But I don't care what skin color my stepkids' friends, or even future spouses will have.

I will totally profile people based on looking like a gangster, but there are a lot of black people who don't look like gangsters, and a lot of non-black people who do. Based on what I can tell, TM's speech and actions would make him look like a stereotypical gangster/hoodlum/thug/etc. He had a hard home life, got in trouble for fighting, etc. etc. I'm sure he must have looked at least somewhat suspicious.

Here's the problem with that line of thinking.

I know kids and adults that dress that way. I don't like it but it's their choice. My point is that night, even the police said he was doing nothing wrong. If he was suspicious, the cops could have ascertained what the next level of response should have been. Justin Beiber dresses and acts the same way, yet how much you want to bet he isn't treated as such.
