Ohh, please disregard the spelling errors in the article. The Dallas Morning News has fired everyone with an IQ over 75. Pretty much all their articles have some type of spelling or grammatical error in them nowadays.

I (wrongly) assumed that one of the qualifications for working at a newspaper would be that you could spell.

I doubt it, but the editor should be able to. There are places where good spelling and grammar are appropriate, newspapers being one of those (typos not withstanding), message boards, not so much ;)
