NVC saying process time is 8 weeks now

Hey guys, I received my NOA2 (dated July 11) a couple weeks ago in the mail. I called up the NVC to get a case number two weeks after receiving it in the mail (as specified in the K1 flowchart) but NVC is now saying their process time is 8 weeks. Is this correct? Has anyone else heard the same?

My NOA2 was July 17, and it was only at the consulate from the 25th-29th of July. I was able to get that info from calling DoS. I never got a letter in the mail, though. What's with that??

Met in 2006 through a pen pal website for school-aged kids when we were 15!
Kept in touch a bit for 4.5 years
02-2011 -Started talking about how to make a relationship work
06-06-2011- Met in Chicago and became a couple, finally!
07-18-2011- I flew back with him to England to meet his family
11-23-2011- He stays with my family and me for three months!
05-16-2012- I flew to England to be with him for a month.
07-15-2012- He flies back to me for another 3 months
12-17-2012- I fly over to England to be with him for 5 months
04-05-2013- We took a trip to Rome, and he asks me to marry him in St. Peter's Square!!!
04-25-2013- I-129F Sent to Dallas Lockbox
05-09-2013- He comes back to visit me for nearly 2 months
07-03-2013- I go back ONE last time, while our I-129F is processing
07-17-2013- Our petition is approved only 79 days later!! kicking.gif

I called DOS today and the lady was really happy to check my case. She told me to call back later because it takes longer for NVC to receice the case. By the way, DOS waiting time was like 1 minute.

New Journey AOS:

My fiancee came to US on the 8th of March, 2014 under K-1 visa at Newark, NJ Airport for POE.

Applied Social Security Number on the 10 of March, 2014.

Married on the 13th of March, 2014.

Sent I-485, I-765, and I-131 on the 15th of March, 2014.

Received EAD on June 7, 2014.

Received Notice of Potential Interview Waiver on July 1, 2014 date 6/27

Contacted Ombudsman on 01/12/2015.

Ombudsman contacted USCIS on 02/20/2015.

Ombudsman sent a follow up to USCIS on 03/18/2015.

I-485 approved on 03/31/2015 ( we ordered your card).

Welcome notice was mailed on 04/01/2015.

Received Welcome Notice on 04/08/2015.

Card was mailed to me/picked up by USPS on 04/08/2015.

Received GC on 4/10/2015.

You need to call USCIS and have them mail you an NoA2. You'll need that when you file for your AoS and if you wait until after your K1 is approved they charge you a ridiculous amount for it.

No, I don't believe so, as far as I'm aware you just need your case number to track it. Once you have that you can find out when they ship your case to the consulate/embassy and all the steps thereafter. :)

A veteran VJ'er might have more accurate input though. I only know what I've seen, I haven't even gotten my paper NoA2 yet, just the electronic notification!

I just called as well and they're saying 8 weeks. It's disappointing how random the timelines are.. I don't see why my case from TSC should take longer to ship than others that got their NOA2s at the same time. At least the hold time to get a live person was only around five minutes.

1/31/13 - 129F Sent
2/7/13 - NOA1
** transferred with 2nd group from VSC to TSC in late June
7/9/13 - NOA2 (5 months)
8/16/13 - Shipped from TSC
9/11/13 - Packet 3
9/19/13 - Forms sent in.
9/24/13 - Medical Done
9/27/13 - CEAC Status Update
10/02/13 - DS-260 mailed in
10/15/13 - CEAC Status Update (DoS couldn't say what triggered it, did say no interview assigned, but all docs are in)
10/23/13 - Embassy email states they do not have our documents. Poor Steven does 160 again.
10/23/13 - DoS says our case is still "processing" and not "qualified" (interview ready) and to do newest forms.
11/05/13 - CEAC Update. DoS says case is "eligible for interview" and we're waiting on next interview date.
11/08/13 - Another call to DoS (Chris is a nice guy!) and no interview scheduled yet.
11/12/13 - Another call to DoS and no interview scheduled yet.
11/13/13 - Email from Embassy to Steven informing him that his interview is TOMORROW.

We got transferred to texas from vermont on June 21st and got our NOA2 on July 10th.. We received e-mail notice that our case was sent to NVC on July 25th and today I called DOS and we received our case number ! Very happy...Don't listen to the people on the phone from NVC. Call the DOS and you should get your case number about 8 days after they send it to the NVC. Good luck everyone !

Ok, it is so frustrating that even though I have received the NOA2, the USCIS website still shows a case status of Initial Review. So, when I call the NVC they tell me they still haven't received it and that I should check with USCIS regarding the case status, and then when I call USCIS they say that it might take up to 30 - 60 days for it to be transferred to NVC and for them to update the case status. Sigh. I don't understand why every case is handled so differently. I'm just gonna keep calling every week until I get a different outcome :P

What does it exactly say on your NOA 2 Receipt?

My NOA 2 from California was July 26th and says "The above petition has been approved and forwarded to the listed consulate. "

I called NVC today and they said they havent got it yet . So no idea when or where it is. I dont know if its gone directly to the consulate or to NVC.
