Name change after marriage in the AOS

Hello all! So I have this question that I couldn't find the answer in the forum. I don't have a middle name because I am Greek. I want to keep my maiden name and take the last name of my husband. For example Jane Doe marries John Smith and she will be Jane Doe Smith. So do I have to put both last names in the last name section of the forms and leave middle name as None or N/A? I don't want my name with hyphenation. This way it will be easier for a lot of things for me.

My husband said to put my maiden last name into middle name but I am not too sure this works since its a name change.

So, your married last name is actually changing to 2 last names. You can put both last names in the surname/family name without a hyphen, like many of us from Latin cultures have. You could probably switch your maiden name to your middle name too, as I believe is something common for those immigrating from the Philippines.

If your state has you state your married name on the marriage certificate, then you would use whatever name you listed as your new married name.

Thank you. No, Washington does not change the name on the Marriage Certificate. I have to do it with AOS Application.
