NVC Filers - August 2013

So early on Saturday I got a "snail mail" letter from NVC stating they can't find our petition. After having USCIS lose our petition for 3 months, we had a heart attack all weekend.

I called today and they indicated that they do have everything, everything is paid and under review.

Thanks for ruining my entire weekend NVC..

As a corollary, I don't know what to believe half of the time. Part of me is happy today, and the other part is suspicious that even this information can be incorrect. We just can't stomach any more delays. January I-130 filer here and not even with an interview date yet all because of mishandled paperwork.

Yes, they forward everything along to NVC. Not entirely sure how they notify NVC of the approval, whether it's electronic or just simply sending the approved petition.

Gabby- I would be having a massive meltdown, given your exact situation.

It's amazing , this 'NVC written inquiries unit' - it's slow, there's a queue, and by the time you receive an answer, it's outdated.

I'm ecstatic that you confirmed stuff over the phone this morning.

Me and my mother we don't have a family picture we never take picture together the only family picture we have is my mother and my son without me ,can she bring it to the the interview . we have some transfer receipt and calling history list . is that enough for IR5 .

The status for my wife's visa on the CEAC site changed this morning from "In Transit" to "Ready." I will call to confirm, but I think it means that the embassy received our file from the NVC.

NVC has finally received our case today ( I-130 was approved by CSC on July 29,2013). Can I email DS 3020 now or do we have to wait until NVC assigns the case number?

The Customer service representative told me that we have to wait for 20 business days for the case number to be assigned, is it right? Normally, how many days does NVC takes to assign the case number?

We will really appreciate your any feedback or comments

You need the case number to send the DS-3032. My case number took 2 weeks after they received it.

Thank you. It has been a very stressful experience and we've encountered nothing but troubles along the way. Our I-130 was accepted very quickly when we filed in January and we thought at that point we would be ahead of the game, but USCIS really screwed up assuming my wife was in the USA changing status because she still held a valid visa through May even though our paperwork clearly said consular processing. She returned to Russia to change her name (very difficult for Russians to change name with foreign marriages). Typical USCIS fashion, it took them 2 months to locate the petition and respond. NVC didn't get our packet until July, almost 4 months later.

I can only hope they finish our review quickly and assign a closer interview date.

And just for the curious; she managed to get her name changed legally in Russia and we're just waiting for her final passport to arrive. It took over 3 months.

Its been 16 busines days today since they put in their system the IV PAKAGE not review yet 4 more business days to go... waiting for case to be completed hopefully no checklist lol

if your case was expedited, the USCIS will put a note that ur case is expedited before they will send to NVC.

i am sure the NVC aware that ur case was expedited.

Thanks, but from what I have read, expedite request needs to be made at USCIS, NVC, and at embassy.
