jughead, since your file was in Newark office, can you tell me please how long did it take to be sent to NVC, and what did you do during that time?

It sat there for a little over a month after NOA2. After about 3 weeks of calling the NVC and them telling me they did not have my file, I contacted my local Congressman's office and they were able to help get it sent to the NVC.

Saylin can I ask there still payments to be paid in the embassy upon interview. I saw this message in travel state

Note: Those individuals who have been notified of appointments, or who have their case number (beginning with the letters SPG and followed by 10 numbers) may check the consular section's interview schedule.

Visa interviews are conducted in the morning by a consular officer after documents intake by the immigrant visa assistant. (Please note that attorneys are not permitted to be present during visa interviews.) The immigrant visa processing fee of USD 355 plus a surcharge of USD 74 per person are payable by cash (either U.S. or Singapore dollars equivalent amount) or by major credit cards.

Only K1 applicants and DCF filers have to pay a fee at the embassy during the interview. That fee they're referring to you've already paid at NVC (the IV bill).

The only possible fee for you would be a courier fee, but this varies by consulate/embassy, so you need to do your research on that.

Case complete as of yesterday! No checklists thanks to Saylin. Looking forward to finally gettin' this sucker done.

Congrats!

Although the case is typically sent out the day after the interview date is assigned, it's not uncommon for it to take a few days. Nothing to be worried about at all.

I just checked the CEAC visa status check site and it's now indicating "In Transit." Does that mean our case was definitely shipped?

*shrug* That site wasn't around when I wasn't at NVC, so I can't confirm. Your best bet would be to confirm with NVC and/or DOS to see if the case has indeed been sent out.

Luisa - you've just reviewed a web site that doesn't handle your casefile type doing the casefile doc intake that you just did.

However, if/when you get an appointment letter from NVC - I highly recommend you study it. It's full of stuff that is pertinent to YOUR casefile and YOUR appointment.

Here's my wife's appointment letter

I suggest checking in with the DoS Hotline, use a telephone.

Of course! Can't say it's as extensive as yours, but I've written down everything, saved every email, etc.

Tried the trick that Saylin links to in the first post to track visa DHL and found a package that left NVC for Tokyo at 12 am this morning. Hope that's it!

Blech. I had problems .... Now that there's an appointment date set, I just shrug it off, only griping about Dallas Office on occasion.

Saylin, Niki, Darnel thank you for the information I will try to call the embassy on Monday about this. i just got confused about paying that sum again.

Why? it's a waste of time.

Instead, study your appointment letter.
