omg after almost 14 months finally a case complete!!!!goofy.gifgoofy.gifgoofy.gifgoofy.gif

Congrats!

Our I-130 was approved on July 29, 2013 by CSC and still waiting for NVC to receive the document. I don't know why it takes so much of time for approved petition to be transferred from CSC to NVC

Have you called USCIS to see if your case has been sent to NVC yet?

Besides the medical, prepare for the interview (gather evidence and paperwork, practice questions, etc). Also make sure you don't need to sign up for any courier service before hand. I don't know anything about Tokyo, but there are quite a few countries that do have this requirement (such as Canada).

Thanks! Couldn't have done it without yours and everyone else's help on here!

On the Tokyo embassy website they say that you need to bring a LetterPak 500 with you that they can use to mail your passport/visa back to you.

From my understanding, the NVC forwards everything beforehand to the embassy. But is there new evidence that should be brought to the interview? Does she need another set of passport photos?

I'm also amazed that her interview is only 2 weeks away. Will that be enough time to get the medical done and the results back?

Ah, yes, Canada used to require an envelope to be brought to the interview. But as of ~3 years ago, they switched to an online system where you sign up and they'll deliver the passport to a DHL location of your choice, for free.

Yes, NVC forwards everything to the embassy, both the packages submitted at NVC as well as the initial I-130 petition. But, you should still bring more evidence to the interview, anything that wasn't submitted previously, plus any new evidence that you've both generated since the last opportunity to send in evidence. The more the better. I don't know how Tokyo is for proof of relationship, but you should always go to the interview over prepared in this area.

Yes, more passport photos should be needed (and at the medical as well). Read the country-specific requirements to find out for sure, and how many. For Canada, it was an additional 3 for the medical and 2 at the interview.

As for the interview and getting things done in time, it depends on the panel physician there. I was able to get a medical scheduled for the next week when I had called and results were ready in 3 days. But, I only know about Canadian time frames and such; I don't know anything about Tokyo.

Thanks, Saylin. I'll have to read up some more on the embassy website. But any new evidence could be new pictures, Skype records, emails, etc?

For the passport photos, she still has an extra set of the ones that were submitted with the DS-230. Could she use those for one of them? Or is it better to get new photos taken?

FYI, just got the email confirmation from NVC! Everything seems to be happening so fast now!

Thanks, you were right! Hope you get some good news soon, too!

It has taken up to 90 days for the petition to be transferred, but keeping on top of a tier 2 at the USCIS and knowing when and where the petition is sent out is a boon.
