Hi guys,

I have been following this forum for a while but posting for first time on this forum. I am currently waiting for the interview letter for my interview on February 6 2014 for AOS as some of the other members on this thread on this forum. On January 6th, I got an email saying that status got updated and it said that my interview has been scheduled for February 6th and they have mailed out the notice listing the details for the interview on January 5th. But I haven't received that notice till date. It's more than 10 days since they have mailed the notice and I am getting worried. My question is should I wait for some time more or should I call USCIS so that they can send duplicate notice before February 6th. In the last status update where it said Testing and interview it' was mentioned that if more than 30 days pass after the notice is mailed out then I should call USCIS, but if I wait for that much time I will miss my currently scheduled interview date. So I am confused on what should I do? Guys please suggest.

Also how many days it took normally to receive the notice for interview after it got updated online.

Thanks,

Rsingh82

Hi, I have my interview this week and was preparing documents.

I realized that I am not able to retrieve the online I-94. I went on a cruise late december and there was no formal immigration process there.

Does anyone know if they check the I-94 during the interview?
Any advice? I am planning to take my cruise itinerary and also show my bahamas visa and the I-94 copy I had before I went on the cruise.

I think they will ask for I-94 card. But recently I heard that they are not issuing I-94 cards anymore and everything is diigtized.

You should be fine showing the old I-94 and that you didn't recieve one from the recent travel. This happens a lot to people who travel to Canada by road.

Good luck with your interview!

Will look forward to your experience.

So I called at USCIS at customer service center and to my dismay the customer service personnel was not able to help me out. He was not willing to listen to my problem and said that you need to wait for 30 days before they can do anything. When I said that I know this but if I wait for 30 days I will miss my interview date and I don't want to do that and he said, unfortunately he can't do anything. When asked to talk to some officer he declined and he said that in the notices case the protocol is to wait for 30 days. I mean this is very bad on USCIS part, why they have customer service when they cannot help people and its clearly understood that if I wait for 30 days for the notice, I will miss my interview date and who knows what will happen then. I have seen posts from people where they have completely lost their notice and still made for the interview by calling them but looks like customer service is not going to help me.

Now I am going to try one more time by visiting the local field office and see if anyone can help me out there. I really do not want to miss my interview date. Senior forum members please help me with any other suggestions you guys may have.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks in advance.

Take a look at my example:
11/26 - IO told me during interview that I'll get approved. Got 'approved' and 'card in production' emails in the evening
11/27 - status changed to Post decision activity - no reason
12/02 - status changed to post decision activity - no reason
12/02 - got welcome letter dated 11/26 in mail.. another NOA dated 11/27 stating they are reviewing the decision made earlier and that they have sent another packet which contains my next steps(never got that )
12/03 - called uscis. Was asked to wait for the letter in mail ??? (which I never got )
12/04 - called uscis again. spoke to a level 2 officer. he said "they never intended to approve me, it was a mistake, decision is still pending". he will open a service inquiry (he didn't.. service inquiry has a ref. number which he never gave me)
12/05 - Called uscis twice. first call I was asked to hold (for 45 minutes.. and counting).Second call was transferred to a level 2 officer who listened carefully and opened a service inquiry. gave me a reference number..
12/06 - status changed to 'approved' and 'card production' . rest of the dates are in my timeline..
Moral of the story - KEEP CALLING THEM. Do not give up until you atleast get someone to open a Service Inquiry. This call center has not protocol.. ur persistence will win over the protocol. I am really sorry to hear about your issue and pray that you get what you are waiting for soon. But, I do ask you to keep trying and calling. You never know which person on these calls might actually do something for you.
Good luck !!

Hi I had my interview today. My 130 form was not there in the bundle. It was with CSC. So they kept the case under review and told me no further action is required from my side.

Has anybody went through similar path. If so, please share what will be the next step

Did you file 130 and 485 concurrently or were they filed separately? I have come across few such cases from other folks but majority of them filed separately....

09/26/2013 - I-797C for Biometrics notice. Appointment scheduled on 10/10

10/01/2013 - I-485 case status updated to RFE and the RFE notice mailed out.

10/08/2013 - RFE response mailed out.

10/10/2013 - I-485 case status changed to "RFE response review"

10/10/2013 - biometrics completed on scheduled date.

11/07/2013 - Received combo card.

11/15/2013 - I-485 case status change to "Testing & Interview"

01/02/2014 - Received notice that interview is scheduled for Feb 3.

02/03/2014 - Interview went well. Now it is a waiting game as our dates are not current.

Waiting to receive atleast an I-130 approval

When PD became current I filed AOS. So, if you know any cases, please share some thoughts. Help is highly appreciated.

From my reading experience;

1. If the IO has an unapproved I-130 application at the time of interview, they will look in to it and approve the I-130 and I485 at the same time or mention that they need to look in to it little more.

2. If the IO doesn't have the unapproved I-130 application, they will try to reach the IO who is working on your I-130 to see if they can approve on the spot and then approve I-1485 (read about this in one forum)

3. last one is your scenario, where they will request the I-130 to the local office. They will review it and approve both I-130 and I-485 applications at the same time.

Hopefully this helps.

So I went to field office and officer told me that notice has been sent and you should get it. He was not so willing in providing me a duplicate copy but alteast he gave me the interview details. When asked if I dont get it by the interview date, he said just do a walkin on the interview date at scheduled time and I should be good. He even told me his name just in case if someone stops me in not entering the office or does not entertain me on the interview date if I don't have the interview notice with me.

I forgot to ask him what all I need to bring in for interview. Can someone provide me the list of documents I need to take for the interview? Please guide me how to prepare for the interview as its another 2 weeks only.

And now I am just going to wait for interview day; if I get the interview notice then all is good otherwise I will just do the walk-in as the officer said.

Had my interview in the Chicago office today. GC approved and in card production :)

Experience for anyone with an interview at Chicago

1. Arrived 15 mins early. No huge security line or anything.

2. You CAN take cell phones. Someone told me I shouldn't and basically was bored out of mind while waiting

3. Proceed to floor 2 directly and you will be given a buzzer and then the wait begins. I waited until 11 am for a 9 am interview slot. So I wouldnt bother arriving too early unless you have to account for traffic.

4. A middle aged officer called our names and the buzzer went off.

5. Sworn in. She wasn't talking much and looked very very stern. Not good for the nervous wreck I am in such situations.

6. Standard questions like where we met, how long we knew each other before marriage, I 485 questions. just basic documents like passport, spouse GC and birth certificates verified.

7. Checked the online I-94 copy I had and asked me when I entered the country last

8. Was not asked any supporting documents to prove relationship. She checked if PD was current and said everything looks good. If I need nothign else, I will approve your case and send the card in 2-6 weeks

9. Was not approved on the spot and I didn't need to have it. So didn't push it.

10. Got email and text updates at 4.30 pm that status is in Card Production.

Thanks everyone here for the help. Visa Journey was the only reason I was able to file my own application and get approved

Congratulations!
