how did you find out if NVC transferred your file to USCIS?

I received some correspondence from NVC mumbai but told them about AOS filling. They told me "We will hold the petition at the NVC until we are notified by USCIS to return the petition to them."

So should i call USCIS or NVC to find out if my fill has been moved or not

I called NVC to convey the message about doing a adjustment of status and the lady on the phone told about USCIS requesting the file. NVC might know if the file was transferred.

07/30/2013 - I-130 NOA2

08/08/2013 - Received USCIS Acceptance Confirmation emails.

08/08/2013 - Checks cashed
08/10/2013 - Received 3 NOA's by mail (I-485, I-131, I-765)
08/14/2013 - NOA for Biometrics appointement. Date set for 08/29/2013

08/20/2013 - Succesful walk-in Biometrics
08/30/2013 - I-485 status online changed to "testing & interview"

10/02/2013 - EAD Card Procudtion, 1-131 still intial review. Got status update on 1-131, something about address change, which we didn't
10/03/2013 - Post Decision Activity for I-131

12/25/2013 - Recieved Interview scheduled text message

01/27/2014 - Attended interview

01/27/2014 - Card Production message

01/27/2014 - Decision message

01/31/2014 - Card Production - Card mailed with tracking # message

Hello,

I am in the US on a k1 visa, just got married and I am filling the AOS forms. My question is: when and how do I change my name? Do I need to get SSN, employment authorization, green card, drivers license, everything and then have to change my name and get new documents or can I do that before I do the Ajust of Status?

If somebody has some information I will be very thankful cause everything is so confusing.

For those who received RFE for proof of Citizenship (when LPR spouse is the filer), how did you guys respond....

a) One page/paragraph explaining F2A date was current in Aug/Sept

b) copy of front and back of GC

c) copy of visa bulletin.

is that all?

and where do we mail the RFE response back? Is it snail mail only or do they accept Express mail/Fedex?

(and one last question, a dumb one, how do i add the timeline at the bottom of post like you folks wink.png)

Also include another copy of the I-130 approval (or NOA1 if it has not been approved).

Rest should be fine. When you got the RFE it should have mentioned where to mail the response back to.

Personally for me, USPS has been extremely unreliable so I always use fedex now to send important time sensitive documents.

I saw some people got the date 7 or 10 days after the status changed to "Testing and Interview". Some may take a little longer. Mine is faster than I thought. Good luck! You are most welcome. I guess the location plays a role too. Since, i am located in NYC. It might take some time for me to get the interview date. I am thinking of calling them once 30 days passes. I had called them this week and they told me that I should recieve Interview date in 30 days. So, I have my finger crossed.

SLC seems to be a slow office for interviews. It has been almost a month that it has been in the "interview" status but still no interview. I have no problem if it stays there and then it jumps straight to card production. That is what happened with my card a few years back. Ho hum. It is the waiting game. At least we'll have the combo EAD/AP card by next week.

How is everybody holding up? Hang in there.

I guess we are on the same boat. I have already received the EAD card. And still waiting for Interview date. I think we should call them once the 30 days passes. I am going to do that.

My I-130 (which was approved last month) just had an update and has now gone back to "Initial Review" :/ I have the approval notice but today's update says:

Your Case Status: Initial Review


On October 4, 2013, your Alien Registration Number was changed relating to your I130, IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN. Please check our website at www.uscis.gov for further updates on your case. Please wait until the end of normal processing time before calling customer service at 1-800-375-5283 for live assistance.


During this step, USCIS initiates the background checks of the applicant/petitioner and identifies issues that may need to be addressed either during an interview or by asking the applicant/petitioner to submit additional information or documentation. USCIS reviews the applicant's/petitioner's criminal history, determines if there are national security concerns that need to be addressed, and reviews the application/petition for fraud indicators.

Anyone knows what is this all about?
