My walk in wasn't easy either. I am traveling in LA so tried the downtown office. It was packed in the morning before 9am. I explained I won't be able to make my appointment due to vacation and the manager asked me to come back after my scheduled date. I then tried south el Monte office around noon. I first waited to speak to their manager. Then got sent back to reception. Got a number. Waited to talk to a second reception desk who sent me back to the manager. This time I sat down with the manager who asked me why I had to walk in. I explained how I am gonna be on the road for a month and he wrote on my form. Not sure why he filled in my "other names used " section with my first name separated by a space? I didn't ask and waited in line again. Finally someone called my number and got my fingerprints.

07/31/2013 - AOS packet sent via UPS (I-130, I-485, I-131, I-765)
08/02/2013 - Delivered to USCIS Chicago
08/06/2013 - Received USCIS Acceptance Confirmation emails and texts.
08/07/2013 - Check cashed
08/09/2013 - Received all i-797C's by mail
08/19/2013 - NOA for Biometrics appointment. Date set for 09/06/2013

08/20/2013 - Successful walk-in Biometrics
08/28/2013 - NOA2 for Biometrics appointment AGAIN. Date set for 09/12/2013
08/29/2013 - Succesful walk-in Biometrics
09/04/2013 - I-485 status online changed to "testing & interview"
09/13/2013 - I-485 status showing the interview date.
09/14/2013 - Received NOA about the interview appointment on 10/15/2013
10/07/2013 - Received Combo card with fingerprint on it
10/15/2013 - interview day. approved on the spot.
10/16/2013 - I-485 status changed to card production
10/17/2013 - I-485 status changed to decision: registered as a permanent resident
10/17/2013 - I-130 approved

I did the same for the timeline. Hopefully some of the mods see this issue and fix it so that there is an option for one who is doing AOS via LPR. Best of luck!

08/02/2013 - AOS packet sent via Express mail
08/04/2013 - Delivered to USCIS Chicago
08/09/2013 - Checks encashed

08/14/2013 - Received hard copy of all NOA1

08/23/2013 - Status changed to RFE

08/28/2013 - RFE notice received in mail asking for Medical Exam to be submitted (even though this has already been included & submitted together with the application form)

09/04/2013 - Replied to RFE (submitted a second copy)

09/11/2013 - Status change to RFE response review

10/05/13 - Advance Parole status changed to Approved

10/15/13 - status change to Change of Address and went back to Initial Review

11/13 - Inquiry regarding status for biometrics appt - per tier2 officer : no prob on documents and confirmed no schedule sent yet. Advice to wait 15 days.

12/13 - 2nd inquiry on biometrics. Still the same answer. 2nd service request sent. Advice to wait 30 days.

12/13 - Googled uscis office on our state & sent a personal letter to head requesting assistance.

12/20/13 - Received biometrics appt for Jan 14, 2014

12/21/13 - Received an interview notice for Jan 28, 2014

01/14/2014 - Biometrics successful

01/28/2014 - Interview done... APPROVED! After 2 hrs status changed to GC on production.

02/04/2014 - 10yr. GC received in the MAIL! FINALLY!!!

06/20/2013 - noa2 approved



I-485 (AOS)


08/02/2013 - packets sent


08/05/2013 - uscis received


08/08/2013 - email/text for 485/765/131 notice receipts


08/19/2013 - FP appointment letter (scheduled for 09/06)


08/22/2013 - successful walk-in in San Jose office.


09/11/2013 - status for I-485 changed to "Testing and Interview"


09/18/2013 - interview scheduled on 18 Oct


10/09/2013 - email notification of I-765 card production and I-131 post activity


10/18/2013 - interview day, not approved on spot


10/21/2013 - EAD/AP received


10/23/2013 - online card production notice

Did a successful walk in today in York PA. The place was dead, there was nobody there. I was in and out in 20 minutes, no questions asked why I wanted to do walk in.

Now on to the next stage

I-130 APPLICATION VSC

Place was empty. In and out in 15 mins.

I suggest going in the afternoon for walk ins.

Is that makes process faster if we do walk in fingerprint before it scheduled originally.!!

Can somebody tell if I want to do walk in biometrics before it is originally scheduled what I ve to do.!! Or

What should I say?

Take passport and appointment notice.

Go in the afternoon. Tell them you cant make it original date and would like to walk in.

If the place is not crowded, they will usually accomodate it.

During lunch time, I got email and txt alert says USCIS mailed a notice requesting initial evidence, haven't received the actual mail yet :( I mailed out all the possible supporting materials. Has anyone received RFE notice two days after Biometrics like me?

09/06/2015 - NOA

09/30/2015 - Done biometrics

I don't know anything about infopass. Like others mentioned before, some ASC may let you walk-in, some others may not. You can try to walk-in, won't hurt.

ASC is different from the USCIS office. You dont need an infopass for walk in biometrics.

That seems pretty fast! If you dont mind can you tell your country of origin? What about your I-130? Is it in Initial Review?

July 31 2013: I-485, I-765 and I-131 sent

Aug 01 2013: USCIS received AOS package

Aug 16 2013: FP notice received

Aug 29 2013: FP done

Sep 09 2013: Status changed to Testing & Interview

Sep 16 2013: Email notification for Interview (scheduled on Oct 17 2013)
