in my opinion, I think its better that he proves that he can support himself without the help of government. He needs to show that he is financially stable and can able to support you when you get there while still looking for a job.

Living in a shelter and receiving food stamps will not cause a denial by itself, but proving the financial support necessary may be an issue. She is not currently making enough for the Affadavit of Support, so she will need a better job by the time your interview comes around in 8+ months, or a second job to get extra income.

An online bank statement is fine, but she will need other records as well- tax filings, and paystubs, letter from employer, that sort of thing.

At $13/hour for 48 hours a week, means 40 regular and 8 OT (if he's non-exempt), puts him at about $35,000 annually. Well above the poverty level for family of 2.
