Psychiatric eval El Salvador

So my husband went to his July 30 interview and they said everything was done except a Psychiatric Evaluation, but did not give him a reason as to why he needed one "except rules and regulations change over time". Is this something new that is becoming part of the standard processes?? I haven't been able to find much except for people that had mental health history. #confused

Scope of Examination

Please be advised that all immigrant visa applicants are required to submit to a thorough examination conducted

by an approved panel physician. Examinations are conducted in conformity with technical instructions issued

by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, and will include:

1. a mental status examination which includes, at a minimum, assessment of intelligence, thought, cognition

(comprehension), judgment, affect (and mood), and behavior;

2. a physical examination that includes, at a minimum, examination of the eyes, ears, nose and throat,

extremities, heart, lungs, abdomen, lymph nodes, skin and external genitalia (visual and palpation); and

3. all diagnostic tests required for the diagnosis of the diseases identified as communicable diseases of public

health significance and other tests identified as necessary to confirm a suspected diagnosis of any other

condition that may affect the applicant’s eligibility for an immigrant visa.

Applicants should be sure to bring their vaccination records to the examination, along with any medical records

the applicant believes might be relevant to their particular medical history, including current prescription drug

names, doses, and frequency.

we had our interview and My boyfriend also has to get a psychiatric evaluation done. He has struggled with depression in the past and still takes meds but is he totally normal. It's hard to understand why they want this evaluation. my boyfriends eval is tomorrow then as soon as the embassy has the papers we can schedule another interview.

It has been 4 weeks waiting for this doctor to mail on the results of his evaluation!!!! Now going on 5 tomorrow! The lady at the Medical doctors office said that this dr is still mailing in Evaluations from August and it may take 1 1/2 months. Grrrrrr!!!! How frustrating knowing we are waiting for this only!!!! Frustrated!!!!??

Wow! Sorry to hear this. It seems like even after I-601 approval, actually getting the visa and getting on the flight to the US is a whole other months long nightmare

I saw another thread where someone was waiting for something simple like this in ES too. My husband is going to have to leave via VD and I am going to see if he can get the medical done here. I don't have a lot of faith in the immigration services there now.

It took from Sept 19 to October 25 for the psych Dr to send in the evaluation to the Embassy! Now we wait to hear from the embassy if my husband can finally come home!!!
