...nor did I ever say how many languages I actually speak either, hon ;)

well that is great, so you can speak many languages it is not a problem the fact I decide to speak portuguese aqui e se eu puder te chamar de qualquer coisa que voce nunca vai entender it will never be a problem, after all we are all very educated people, right?

Look, I understand that hearing what I said may have been offensive, and if it's offended you then it's unfortunate. But it doesn't change the fact that amongst English speakers, to start whipping out a foreign language can be alienating...sort of telling people 'hey I'm gonna talk in front of you but I don't give a sh!t that you don't understand'

I also didn't say I speak MANY languages....so assuming things is never a good thing.

PS....you can call me whatever you want and I may or may not understand, but saying something when the other may not understand kinda takes away from the ballsiness of it all, no? Kinda like an exercise in futility, imo Anyone can talk chit behind someone's back...

Lisa, if google translation (or whatever you used) served you here, why couldn't you figure out the conversation about height?

Honestly, I don't post on Off topic since August because I had some people giving me a hard time, so yesterday I posted on latin america about dogs, but I guess ewok, or whomever, moved it to here, anyway...

This current situation is exactly why I have kept from posting in Off topic and in all likelihood will refrain from such in the future.

Nessa, stay, go...whatever makes you happy. You don't like what I say? Then just put me on ignore. But don't sit here adding to the same drama all the while claiming the high road.

No, I saw the point. I just don't see what the big deal is. It's the same as when people have a small private chat about something or other in a thread. If it's not for you/about you, just ignore it. I personally don't take offense when people talk quickly in a different language I don't understand in a thread.

If you are really that interested in the heights in Nessa's family you can just pop it into a translator. If not, just move on.

am I sitting here saying 'oh this is why I don't come in here anymore?' Huh?

All I said was that I found it ignorant when ppl speak in a different language in front of ppl who don't speak that lang. Anyone is free to disagree, but it's hardly a flaming statement. It's rude. Sure anyone can do it, but it's rude.

I just think this whole argument is strange for an immigration forum...

você tem estatura média eu diria, eu sou um pouquinho acima de 1 metro e 70, mas sabe, sou descendente de alemão e acredite or not, in my family I am considered short, I have cousins that are like 1.96m, and that is normal, so when we're having christmas party or something you can hardly find me in the middle of my family lol I hate that, really. Like I have brown hair and green eyes, tho I had blonde hair as child, anyway, my cousins mostly have blue eyes and blonde hair and I am the weirdo shorty, brownish hair person among them :P

No offense, Nessa, but I find speaking a foreign lang in front of English speakers to be kinda ignorant.

Like if there was summat you wanted private, you could have used the PM function. If not, why write in a lang that obviously not everyone here can understand?

I'm sorry, did I just read this earlier today?

realize me discussing this with you ironically makes this come across as hypocritical as I'm criticizing your post for criticizing his/hers.....but I'm very much a firm believer in adults not having to govern one another.
