Who's the bigger dumba$$ there? The one who paid to have that etched on his arm, or the one who put it there? I'd say it's a toss up.

You can go down that route if you want to pass judgment.

However, fact still remains there is a lot of value in getting an education, no matter what you end up doing in/with your life.

So ####### was the point of your tattoo post? That wasn't passing judgement on someone that obviously skipped a few English classes? More English comprehension issues from you yet again.

Then there is this...

If you don't know how to spell and use grammar correctly before going to college you have no business going there. This is basic education, not college level. I think you have proved my point more, not contradicted it.

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

A great general education is fanetastic, but the fact that you believe that that is what you should be getting in college is what I totally disagree with. It makes no sense to lower the standards for high school so that what college gives you now is a high school education. By the time you graduate high school you should have had time to learn anything and everything that is required to be capable of entering employment for most non specialist jobs, which is the vast mejority. Clearly, there are those who need more specialised training and those who wish to pursue that just because but most people are not only not interested but don't need it and only do it to 'get on' in the work place. That's an incredibly stupid and wasteful way to educate.. That's my point.

We agree on that one. Universities should not be in charge of basic education, which is not to say that college should not be considered basic education, for it is becoming just that more and more. A college degree today is becoming as basic as K-12 used to be 'back in the day'.

Too much "correct thinking" and not enough basic skills taught in K-12. It is more of a cascade effect that feeds on itself. I saw the beginnings of it in high school back in the 1970's, when physical education majors were teaching Math classes, like my Algebra 2 teacher that wrote examples out of the teachers edition on the chalkboard exclusively. It was pathetic watching him try to show how the quadratic equation was derived. This was one of the best schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District.

Fair enough, I think we probably agree more than we disagree.

I do not apologise for making typing errors. This is chit chat, not an essay and I am not going to proof read my posts just to please people who have nothing better to do with their time than highlight typos.

Yep. Next the selfish people will be suggesting we shouldn't have firefighters because anyone can throw a bucket of water on a fire.

I don't know if it's considered selfish, but where I reside we have all volunteer firefighter's and paramedic's. Maybe we could get volunteer professor's to give us a truly free education. That would be unselfish of the professor's.

It's true, I don't have cable but I don't think that explains it. I only watch netflix or BBC programming that I steal from the UK govmint.
