My husbands case has been in ap process for almost 3 months. We haven't had any updates what so ever since his interview. Should I contact dos? I heard it delays the case of we contact them? Also I heard if we email embassy it updates the case in the system? Does it update when we call dos too?

You will not get any info about the case no matter what action you take. This A P period is the most difficult and frustrating aspect of these visas in my opinion.

I am sorry to hear that you are on AP as me and my fiance are on AP as well. You may email your embassy if you hit the 90 days period and/or call DOS to send a report. Not guaranteeing that you will get an answer to your AP right away, but you wouldn't lose anything if you try. You can also try contacting your congressman, senator etc...

Hope this helps, Good luck :)

I agree with DeenJay. When you make an inquiry through DOS the status does not update. It does update with email and congressional/senatorial inquiries. AP is the most trying time with this visa process, I have been in AP a little over 2 months now. I hope you get a response about the status of your case. The not knowing why the lengthy AP is daunting.

I would check with your local congressman or senator and see if they have a staffed immigration specialist and take a look at their stance on immigration. I have read a few post about immigration specialist follow up on cased at 90 day increments. I see many of your country men and woman posting about lengthy APs.

I personally feel, this is a service provided by my tax dollars. We should have rights with US embassies as we do with everything else in America. I can complain and file a lawsuit about anything, but I am not entitled to know the status of a case I pay an embassy to process? I wish you the best of luck with your journey.

Nothing wrong with trying the politician bit but people need to remember these are the very same politicians that have done nothing about immigration reform or to affect any change in the 60 year old laws.

Should someone contact them its would be good to ask them how they voted on the last immigration effort and what the result was. Ask why Congress has so little to do with USCIS.

As far as A P they can do nothing at all. They all have a staff trained to placate the public and they are good at it. One person that worked in one of their offices reported that they threw most requests into the trash rather than do anything.

This is exactly why I'm holding off on contacting anyone. 1 it's only been about 84 days. I know a lot of people who have been in ap for longer then me and I feel it's unfair for me to complain about my case. But it really isn't fair. We pay tax dollars we pay for our case and we can't get any updates. It's just not fair. It's just frustrating like how would these people feel if they were torn apart from their loved ones because of these lengthy processes. I think ap process is just dragged out just so they can get more of people's money. I don't mean to offend anyone in anyway and if I need I'm really sorry. But I'm a us citizen too I pay taxes I paid for my case just like everyone. I even flew over to my home country for my husbands interview just to be with him and support him. And all they said was "oh we see your wife is here with you, but provide proof of relationship" I understand a lot of fraud goes on but I think it's just silly for someone to fly over there for fraud. It probably happens, but it's ridiculous.

Sorry I just had to vent...

I just miss my husband so much especially because this is the 2nd year we won't be together for our holidays. :(

Don't feel bad hun, I may not be on AP for so long either but I feel as bad as you do and many other that has been on it for so long. I agree, we as citizens and tax payer should have the right to know exactly what is going on instead of keeping it a secret and not updating us. Did they stay with his passport? They say that if they keep the passport is usually a good sign (coming from the visa specialist every time I call lol) I wish you the best. Even if you think it's a waste of time contacting anyone, I still think you should.

They did keep his passport and like others told us our case looks good and they have this process that they have to put him through. What's bugging me is our case hasn't updated once since the interview.

Then when you hit your 90 day period, write an email to your embassy. Tell them that you want a status update on your case. They kept my fiance's passport as well. I am hoping that we are not on this AP for much longer :( Please keep me updated !!
