Hi Ladies - Well I just had a really long talk with my mom about something that happened today and I thought I would express what happened to us today to you on here and see if you guys think I'm being paranoid or should be really concerned. So it's Friday and every Friday I take Youssef to the mosque. We have a small Muslim community here, as we live in Western Wisconsin and most everyone is Christian. So when he goes in to pray I usually stay in the car with my son and study. Today it was just me, as my sister was babysitting. So I was just reading and Youssef finished and came out. The parking is on the street and as soon as he got in we chatted a little about a couple we know and how they were today. So as I put the car into drive, I see a white guy walking across the street opposite of us (on the other side of a 4 way intersection) and getting into his car. I asked Youssef if he was in the mosque (there's just a few American converts that go) and he said he didn't think so. As I crossed the intersection he looked right at me and I saw that he had a digital camera in his hand. One of those bigger types. As we drove past, he quickly pulled into the middle of the intersection in his Jimmy or Explorer (something like that) stopped in the middle, waitied about 5 seconds (long enough to take a picture) and then put it into drive and went up a side street pretty quickly. Now I've never been scared to live here, it's a small community, low crime, high tolerance etc. but let me tell you I DO NOT have a good feeling about this. My mom said if it were someone following us they probably don't want to hurt us (i.e. FBI etc.) but this really shakes me. First that there might be someone watching us and 2 that it might be the government. I keep saying this is probably me just being paranoid but I can't help it. We don't do anything - we're not hiding anything from them. They approved his visa, there is nothing illegal in either of our backgrounds. Help me out ladies!!!

If you're really worried I'd call the police and describe what happened. It could just be a reporter trying to get a picture for an article he's writing or something but I'd definitely keep my guard up.

I had a scary incident too today, but it turned out to be nothing. Abdel called me at work and when I picked up the phone I heard a woman's voice say "begin test now". I knew it was Abdel because I have caller ID at work. I just hung up the phone and called him back. It took 3 trys to get him, twice it was busy. He said he also heard sounds on his end. When I got home he told me it was his fault, he had dialed a wrong number when he was calling me and apparently had punched in some code for our answering machine. I had gotten a busy signal because he was trying to call me too.

Your incident could be nothing or something. Just be careful and keep us posted.

I agree with Liz. Sine you feel uncomfortable, tell the police and maybe they can shed some light on it. I'd be a bit freaked out too if that happened to me. Try not to stress to much about it. Maybe it's just another wacko that thinks you look good. ;)

That *is* really weird, I don't think you're being paranoid. I agree about calling the police... Probably they'll just take a report and nothing will come of it, but if there's some kind of pattern maybe you'll find out about it.

I wish I had a better suggestion for you :( I would say report it and then try to put it out of your mind, neither of you has anything to be afraid of.
