2 years ago when I renewed my visa, the Embassy printed the wrong status in my passport (I'm J-1 but they printed F-1). When I got in America, the immigrant office kept me for 4 hours because my visa status wasn't matched. Then they gave me a waiver to get in America. This time, I applied to renew my visa, this incident became an issue and they put me in AP. It was their mistake and now I'm the one who suffer. It's been 70 days already. Can I sue someone if my college plan destroyed (I got accepted for master degree but now if I'm late for a semester I might lose it)? It was their mistake from beginning.

It is your responsibility to check your passport that the visa is correctly printed before your left the US Consulate. You should have informed the US Consulate immediately once the mistake was spotted and they would issue you the correct one.

But you entered US with the incorrect visa unknowingly, creating the confusion.

You just have to wait for them to sort it out now.
