having 2 last names (surnames)... cause for confusion or concern?

People from many countries in Latin America have two last names. Has anyone ran into problems with that? Sometimes, Visas use both last names or one last name... should this be a cause for concern?

My husband's first visa (J1) had only one last name. Part of his other last name was used as the middle name. His B2 visa has both of his last names. We filed the paperwork for the IR-1 with 1 last name and used the 2nd last name as part of the middle name. Also, on the marriage cert, it has both last names. This was a clerical oversight on their part. I really hope this is not an issue since his complete full name with both last names is stated on almost every document - including his SS card.

Anyone else have a similar issue?
