I totally agree on this!! We basically paid a certain amount and they are not doing there job quite well...the food that is put on there table came from our money and they make us wait for a long time! That's just really ridiculous!!

A solution would be to pay this people per files they process :)

Then they will work hard and not fool us around.

Agreed ! its obvious that the people making the policies have never been separated from a spouse because of slow governent workers or regulations that make no sense. It makes me so mad just thinking of our files just sitting there when we know it only takes 15 minutes to adjudicate. GRR They collected the fee.... If there is an increase in filings ... THEN HIRE MORE PEOPLE OR ADD OVERTIME #######????

There have been maybe an approval every few days from the January section. It looks like it's taking 6-7 months right now. I haven't seen any recent Feb approvals, and zero March approvals. People who filed later than January/Feb should not expect anything anytime soon.

One word! Unbelievable!!! I have written my congresswomen on everybody's behalf. I am an April filer, and told her I do not wish to circumvent the system (until 6 months), but also slipped my case number into the release form. I really hope enough people write their conress/senate. The system needs to be overhauled! Although us present "waiters" will never see it, in the future perhaps others will appreciate that they don't have to be separated by their loved ones sooo long. I'll keep you tuned in when/if I hear something from my congressional efforts.

I did the same 2 days ago. I was told that since there is such confusion with where the files are, I have a right to know where my file is and she would do her best to track it down. I told her I wasn't trying to be bumped to first in line, I just wanted details. She said it has been crazy lately and she thinks I should at least know where it is. I suggest everyone makes an inquiry and tell the congressional office that zero information is being given on the customer service line. After all, isn't that what its for? Information.

We paid a fee.. We deserve to AT LEAST know the location. The advocator I spoke to was sooooo nice and she has worked with my Immigration Attorney before.

I joked with her and asked if my file will be put at the bottom of the pile for making an inquiry.. She laughed and said NO, that's not how it works. I won't lose my place...

figure it like this....... It can't hurt to ask... That is what those people are there for.

I read online somewhere today something about the adjudicators being unionized and are only allowed to process 10 files a day. That number was set by evaluating all processors and using the lowest number of cases as to not make anyone feel bad... NOW, I don't really believe all that but it has stuck in my head all day.... How can that possibly be true? I wish I bookmarked the site. I wasn't able to copy the link at work. My job doesn't allow us to do that... trust me, I tried... Did anyone else hear that? I was googling " why is the USCIS so slow" ranting33va.gif

I don't believe they can be unionized. As federal Adjudication Officers. But then again you never know. I have heard the IT Federal worker in Hawaii are unionized. But....I also thought the Adjudications folks were paid exclusively by the fees that came in with the forms. Because of this they would not (rather should not) be affected by the Government furloughs taking place right now. Not to say that some lower level government peeps in the food chain are not being furlloughed, slowing this whole process. Just more to ask my congressional folks I guess.

I'm gonna google the same and see what I come up with.

well check out this link: http://www.jobmonkey.com/lawenforcement/uscis-officers.html

Now it shows me they are low level civil service. (most commissary cashiers are GS-5 or 7), so their work is probably quite stressful for their pay. And reading the web page says that they all rotate through the NBC for a week of training regardless of where they will be stationed/work at. So that probably slows things as well. lol

Right! I'm pretty sure they will be striving hard to process it really fast. If only our complains will go pass certain people in the government and they do something to change their system. Probably things will go faster and more smoothly.

A solution would be to pay this people per files they process smile.png
Then they will work hard and not fool us around.

I'm pretty sure the solution to this can be quite simple.

Make the K-3 visa relevant again by changing the process of obtaining it similar to tourist visa application (but requiring a medical exam) so that foreign spouses can travel and wait for the CR-1/IR-1 process in the US. The interview can take place at USCIS local field office. If the application is not approved (for whatever reason), then the couple is given a 30-day window to file an appeal. If appeal also unsuccessful then the foreign spouse must leave the US by a given date. K-3 visa holder is prohibited from filing for adjustment of status to any other type of visa or file for asylum in order to stay in the US if CR-1/IR-1 is unsuccessful. If CR-1/IR-1 is approved, then file for adjustment of status to permanent residence.

My priority date is February 21 and I'm still waiting. It's ridiculous that married couples (and many people have children, myself included) have to wait so long. No offense to the K1 filers but shouldn't married people be given priority? USCIS needs to hire more people or work around the clock. lol. The world is getting smaller and people are meeting and falling in love so people filing petitions for loved ones isn't going to go away any time soon.

I agree. My son is getting older ( he will be 2 in November) and his father is missing a lot with us being apart. It's crazy how this system works. Make the families suffer apart while the engaged rump around together. No offense to the K-1 people, just saying.

It's really hard being apart, especially when you have kids and you know your spouse is missing a lot. My daughter will be 2 next month and my son just turned 6. My husband went to Canada for 6 months (no visa needed for Canada) just so he could be closer to us. We last saw him in April and our son broke down on our last day. It's just awful what this system does to families. I know a lot of people have abused the system but why can't the beneficiary come once the petition is filed? If they need to return to their home country for the interview, medicals, etc that's fine.

More than K-1, it really annoys to see non-immigrant visa holders bringing their spouses right after getting married while citizens who got more ties to the US have to wait and show ridiculous proofs to be with their spouses.

Did your husband try to get the member of congress or senator involve in your case? It's worth to give it a try since you have been waiting for almost 6 months now.

Your husband can try to contact Senator Elizabeth Warren's office here

Alternatively, your husband can also contact the member of congress that represents the congressional district where he lives.

I hope your case will be adjudicated soon.

Yes, I did contact Senator's Warren's office. The immigration liaison was very helpful and sent me a e-mail message from USCIS. USCIS wrote:

Case MSC XX XXX XXXXX, Form I-130 filed on behalf of XXX XXXXX this case has been received in our office. At this time, the stand-alone Immediate Relative Form I-130 petitions are being sent to the NBC for transition to the local field office of jurisdiction for adjudication. Immediate Relative cases will be forwarded to the local USCIS field office. However, due to the current workload at the field offices, the NBC is holding the I-130 petitions until further notice. You may want to contact your local field office for further information. The field offices at any time can request this case from the NBC for further review and adjudication.”

So, I made an INFOPASS appointment and the female IO must have read this email 10 times and consulted with her supervisor. She was sympathetic to our case but told me that the average wait time for approvals is 8 months and you will have to wait.

My local office will be Boston, too. Was the 8 month figure given to you at your InfoPass appointment for processing at the Boston office or the NBC? I'm confused by the letter from USCIS. Does it mean the NBC has not forwarded your petition to Boston? And does that mean NBC will process it, or just that they're waiting longer before sending it to Boston? unsure.png

I copied the email exactly as it was written by USCIS and took out the personal information. I think the email from USCIS was meant to pacify me and the senator's office.

I need to update my timeline. I live in Middlesex County so my local office is actually Lawrence, Mass. not Boston. The IO at the Lawrence office was also confused by the email and couldn't/wouldn't give me any real answers and say whether it had been transferred or whether it would stay at NBC. She just said that approvals can take up to 8 months after speaking with a supervisor in a back office. She said that the local office can't pull petitions to review them. She looked us up on her computer and she could see that a petition was filed and that's it (after I gave her our receipt-NOA1). Going to an INFOPASS, as others have said on this site, is a waste of time because you won't get any real answers.
