Status terminated??

I just got an email from USCIS that our status on our I-485 application was terminated. What does this mean? Our Biometrics is supposed to be next Monday.

That certainly sounds bad, I would immediately call USCIS - make sure you speak to a tier 2 agent.

It certainly does sound highly unusual, given that you seem to have recently applied (it would be very early for them to even adjudicate it), and have what looks like a standard K1 -> AOS process. Did you check case status on the USCIS website?

Definitely go to the biometrics!

I checked online and all it said was our status was terminated and we'd be getting a notice in the mail. Same as the email I got. I hope we get the written notice today as they sent it out monday and we usually get them quickly.

We´re waiting right now to speak with a tier 2 officer. The first person we spoke to was under the impression our application was denied but couldn´t give us more info. I don´t understand why they could have denied us. The only reason that I could think of is maybe they didn´t accept my co-sponsor, but that wouldn´t make since either since my dad makes 125% above the poverty line for 6 people. And the funny thing is They didn´t touch our EAD application. That still says initial review. We are so confused right now and I´m worried now that we´ll be going through removal proceedings.

They told us that they neither denied or accepted. they just closed the case. we have to wait till we get our notice in the mail

My best guess: It's something that warrants returning your entire package. You know like how they return it entirely when you don't submit the correct payment amount? Maybe they found out something that justifies returning your entire package to you? So now you have to correct whatever that is and resubmit it and start over again?

I don´t know. I´m thinking because when we first sent in our application, it got rejected because there was an error on the check I sent them. They sent us our paper work back with a notice and a case number.

I resent the application with a new check. They Accepted it and we got new case numbers. We even got a biometrics appointment notice last week. I´m thinking maybe they closed the wrong case.

Is it possible to appeal a case termination? Should we still go to the apointment? This is so abrupt. We are utterly confused and can´t find any legit reason for them to do this.

Maybe they realized that they have given you 2 different case numbers for the same case. Have you tried checking the case status using the number from your first letter? Hopefully the letter they send to you will clear things up. How soon is your biometrics appointment? If it is right away, can you make an Infopass and discuss the situation in person? You don't want to miss biometrics if your case is still active because that would give them a reason to cancel it. Otherwise, I would wait to see what the letter says. Good luck!

If you call and can't get anywhere, then the only thing you can do is wait for the letter to see what they say. You may have to consult an attorney at this point.

well that´s why i´m on the phone again. I don´t have the old case numbers. I must have gotten rid of them thinking we didn´t need them anymore. So we´re calling to see if they have it linked still for my husband´s name or our address. Our biometrics is next monday. When we called earlier today the officer told us that the biometrics appointment would be canceled. But I´m thinking about going anyway since I work and my next day off won´t be till monday. I don´t know if we can get an appoinment in time.
