Rush Limbaugh has responded to POLITICO's report about negotiations with Cumulus Media by telling listeners not to worry and hinting that a move away from the broadcaster could mean wider reach for his program on Clear Channel and other syndicators.

"You are gonna be able to get this radio program on as many, if not more, radio stations down the road than it's on now, and what you're being treated to is just a public business negotiation," Limbaugh said on today's program.

During the Sandra Fluke controversy in February of last year, Limbaugh said, “[she] essentially says that we must pay for her to have sex – what does that make her? It makes her a #######, right? It makes her a prostitute. She wants to be paid to have sex. She’s having so much sex she can’t afford the contraception. She wants you and me and the taxpayers to pay her to have sex.”

After the comments Limbaugh made about Fluke, many companies partook in an advertising boycott, including AOL, Sears, Netflix, Autozone, Capital One, and J.C. Penney.

PoliticusUSA reported, “The boycotters did it. They got Cumulus to dump not only Limbaugh, but also Hannity. Without the public pressure, bad publicity, and shame that the boycott brought on to his advertisers, Rush Limbaugh and Cumulus would probably still have a happy marriage.”

Rush and Hannity lost the big ad buyers. Simple as that.
