DIVORCE CONDITIONAL GREEN CARD

Hello,

I got divorced while I was a conditional green card holder about 2 months ago. Then, I left America to come back to my country; I was so depressed and didn't have anybody to stand beside me over there. Now, I want to go back to the U.S. my conditional green card is still valid for about one and afew months. But, I haven't filed yet to remove conditions on my card!!

I want to remove them ASAP I got back there.

My question is will that affect me that I didn't remove the conditions right away after divorce and came to my country for a while?? Or it's fine and there's no problem??

I am outside America for about 2 months. They said it's ok for my travel back there. RIGHT?

Thanks for any response!

Most likely your green card is still valid and you can go back to the U.S. fine. Being outside for 2 months is not very long; they probably wouldn't even question you, but if they do, convince them that you maintained residence in the U.S. Being divorced does not make your green card invalid; they would have to revoke it to make it invalid.

Once you get back you should file for Removal of Conditions immediately. You should have filed immediately when your divorce was finalized, but late is better than never, as long as your green card is not expired yet.

That's good!

Can you tell me if you have any idea what I should do to do the paperwork?

I fill the form online and pay the fees and that's it?

Thanks

No one files the ROC online. You really need to read the form and its instructions. It would not hurt to take a look a the other threads on this forum. They may answer many of your questions. Good luck!
