SS Card shows incorrect name

So I went to SSA today. They said that my social security card was on its way to me. They gave me my number.

An issue, though.

They told me that my first and middle name were put into one name

So, instead of it being something like STEPHEN PETER HARRIS, it shows in their system, STEPHENPETER HARRIS.

How do I go about fixing this? I called DHS like the SSA advised me, but they said that all of their paperwork is correct and therefore there is nothing they can do. I'm not really sure where to go from here. I have the number, so I can work now. Usually employers don't ask to see your card, so it may not matter that much on that end.

However, I need to show my social security card when I go to get my driver's license converted. It won't show the name properly, and my immigration paperwork shows the correct name.

Anyone know how to get the name corrected on the SSN card?

SSA told me it MUST be fixed in Orlando (about 1.5 hours away) by immigration.

Thanks.

Not a big deal for work. I would wait and see what the GC says. If your GC is good, then go and change the name with the GC. If GC is wrong, then I would get GC changed for free based on USCIS error, then get new GC and change name on SSN.

AOS for my husband

The same thing happened to my husband at the SSA office... They said that when he did his POE, they must have put his middle name on the same line as his first name, and we were told we had to go to border security to fix it... USCIS showed his name correct in their system, so his green card came correctly, and he had no issues when getting a drivers license, as his passport and his green card had his name correctly. Hope things work out for you as well! Good luck!

Was he able to correct his social security card?

Turns out SSA was wrong that they got my name incorrect. I received the Social Security card today and they issued it with my proper name. Thanks for all of your help folks.

Glad I didn't listen to them about going to Orlando today. Saved time and money just waiting for the mail.
