The inventory is also a way to make sure things dont get left behind. - kinda check off when that box goes in the truck kind of thing.

FOR SURE do the sweetgrass route - I can't remember the name of the crossing I went across last time I went to the states...(whichever one highway 2 turns into) and that road...I wouldn't want to do it in a trailer!!!!

Yeah, the Map I have been looking at takes me through Coutts/Sweetgrass crossing and they are a 7:30-11/7day immigration office there so it wont matter what time I go through, I can get processed.

I was actually a little overboard on my labelling & packing list but it worked REALLY well.

Each box had a number label & the room I wanted the box to end up in.

On my spreadsheet (packing list) I had box #, size of box, room it came out of, description of contents (being sure to list items that I knew I’d be looking for), room it was going to.

Printed out the list at the last minute. Then packed up my office box. Had the list with my immigration folder.

I had a box number and general items that were in it. (example Box 1 - Books) and to be honest, they never even looked at it or opened the uhaul. We went thru Sweetgrass, MT.

I am starting to wonder if it isnt better to jsut have movers do it for me. I called U-haul and it will be over $3000, up front. Where as I can have a mover do it, for almost the same and what I would spend on hotel and food and gas, I can get a flight down. It floored me how much a 1 way truck rental is. What a rip off.

I got about 10 mpg for gas, I think my gas cost was close to what the rental was from NS to DC,lol I like to drive, so for me, thats what I wanted to do!! back in 2011 I drove from DC to Saskatoon, Calgary, kamloops, back to Saskatoon, then back to DC,lol

The quote u get online at Uhaul.com should be the same as what you got on the phone--so double check it. I went to an actual Uhaul franchise at first--and his quote was exactly as it was online. And don't forget about insurance. Sometimes your personal car insurance may cover it-----but it may not--especially it being a moving truck. Same goes with your credit card, as soem say they cover rental cars---but thats the basic rental cars--not trucks, etc etc!! best of luck
