The question is will it do anything, What I fear is that this will be used to fund another program,,,,Don't kill black kids or whatever slick name a promoter wants to throw at it. Millions of taxpayer dollars will be thrown into it and the usual people who control chicago will end up with a bigger bank account. . This is just like the Mafia of yesteryear. Jessie Jackson Jr can sit on the board from prison .His wife can be an in charge of some other part of this program and we can study the problem for the next 20 years. They get to buy another million dollar house on the backs of dead black children of Chicago. . Until the regular black families see that your black leaders care only about themselves and not that child in the streets will anything meaningful be done.

You have a culture of street thug that gets promoted in black society . The flash robs. knock out games and a genuine disdain for authority as shown by travon . (mother could not handle him ,,,threw him out of the house, school could not handle him, missed what over 50 days of school and George did act as some sort of authority in his eyes.... enough to confront George and die from it. My Chinese son never missed a day of school and was often praised on how respectful he was of his teachers and other students. Point being my Chinese son was raised in a culture where to excel in school was a must.. I. posted a long time ago here about tiger moms.. That said I realize his school environment (a Christian school.) did not allow for free expression in dress and looks. One day a week you wore a dress shirt and tie. No blue jeans , We were paying over 6 grand a year. Working 2 jobs to do this. ANY drug use or cheating and you were kicked out for good.(on of off school)... Point is The parents were involved, The teachers were involved and the students were involved. . The students were taught how to preform in a real world setting. Come to your place of employment everyday and ready to work.

The culture of the black child in Chicago needs to be front and center. It will not be done. Now I understand that not every black family has their children going in the wrong direction. But there is enough of a percentage of the population of black children that walk that walk . I never had the urge to kill someone as a child and guns were in our house . At age 13-14 I could use a .22 without any supervision at all. (and did often).... it is the thug culture that needs to be looked at. The black society needs to look at why a 14 year old black child will pick up a gun and is ready shoot someone....From the music to the movies and culture on the streets.

You speak as if these aren't issues in the white society as well. They aren't even in the same league as the Mafia. They don't go around whacking folks who owe them money. You have corrupt politicians that steal funds, have affairs, and lie to the people, but I guess it's easier to put the lens on us.

That culture isn't indigious to black people, white folks do it too. My sons are respectful, it's not the color, it's the mindframe. But here is the difference; who do you think pushed that mentality the most? Go back 40 years, look at movies and TV. What roles could black people get? Pimps, thugs, maids, drug addicts. They weren't allowed to be anything else. Look at Denzel Washington, who is the epitome of inspirational roles for black men, what did he get the Oscar for? Training Day. Look at Halle Berry, who could have won for Losing Isaiah or Dorthory Dandrige, won for Monster's Ball. Look at Monique, who won for Precious. Look at today, a comedian named Sinbad, who is the cleanest, most respectful dude you could ever meet, made a show that was positive for TV. It didn't make it through the first season. He gave an interveiw and said I guess they only care about drama. Look at Jersey Shore, Jerseylicious, any RH show, this is ignorance at it's best, yet somehow this is ok. Look at shows where sex, violence, no morals are at the front, yet no one is protesting this. It's only a problem if blacks do it.

I posted a couple of days ago about the black thug persona. Look at how much you get paid to act like that. Blacks only make up 30% of the population, it's white people buying into as well. But they don't care, as long as it makes money, that's all that matters.

You think drugs are just in our community? Look at yours, you have famous folks OD on cocaine and herion, but they won't be dragged through the mud. The thug mentality that you speak of is marketed by executive producers, if it wasn't it wouldn't sell. What does a black child have to look forward to when schools in poor/middle class areas are closed down or lose accredidation? When white schools don't want them? When their parents are working 3 jobs to keep a roof over their heads?

You say you never wanted to kill someone, neither do alot of folks. But take just a bit of what I just post, and put yourself in those shoes. No black child that young wants to be a murderer, but until you walk in those shoes, you can't judge. And there are plenty of white kids who use guns to kill, we've posted the links here. But for some strange reason, folks like you aren't in those threads. But if it's a black person, then it's a free for all.
