Hello,

My wife's F2A visa (PD 3 Nov 2011) very recently entered the NVC processing stage; we have received the IV Bill on Jul 20th, 2013.

We are expecting our first child in Dec 2013, and are opting to stay in India till after the child is born; lack of medical insurance coverage for my wife in the US being the primary reason for not wanting to move to US before the child is born (if that is indeed possible).

Going through the NVC Processing Times spreadsheet and other related forum entries, my understanding is that with the normal course of processing, there is very little chance of us completing the whole process & have a visa in hand for my wife by our pregnancy travel cut-off time : First week of October.

We are currently working towards my wife & child being able move to US in March of 2014; 3+ months after our child is born.

The question we are trying to answer right now is : Should we deliberately delay in any of the steps going forward (paying the IV bill / returning the completed I-864 package / returning the completed IV package / Scheduling the interview at the consulate / etc. ) to time the completion of the whole process by Mar 2014?

Is there a specific step in the process where we can communicate with NVC or the US Consulate about our plans to include our newborn in the immigration process, and about the possibility of getting the visa for both by Mar 2014?

Thanks for reading & for responding to those who do!

Regards,

Prakash

An immigration is valid for up to 6 months or when the medical exam expires whichever is first.

With a March 2014 target for moving to the US, your wife should take her medical after October. However, her pregnancy may presents issue for the exam so you will need to find out when she can take it.

You also might have to face AP which would delay the visa. Are people from your wife's region regularly put into AP? You'll need this info also.

Pay the fee. Wait until the end of September/stary of October to send the paperwork to the NVC. It'll take 2-3 months for an interview.
