Hello,

I need some solid advice as I am very confused.

I have read many case reports before from individuals that scheduled their medical exam (this is for London) a few days before their interview date. However, I am seeing more recent threads where it seems like people are saying you need to have your medical completed BEFORE they will even let you book the interview - what is the actual procedure? I have a flight booked out to the USA (I will be going under VWP) to spend a month or so with my fiancee before the interview date, but if the medical needs to be completed before I can even request the interview, it seems like I'd have to get the medical done before I leave on the 15th of August otherwise my interview would be delayed by as long as I was out of the country, right?

I haven't received packet 3 Yet. As I understand it, I need to wait until I have packet 3 (or, until the London embassy has note of my case and then I could just download the forms myself and fill them out) and then send off the forms. When the forms are recieved, my interview will be scheduled... right? But do they also require that your medical is completed before even scheduling the interview now, or is it okay to have the medical later as long as it is 5 days prior to the interview date?

I'm sure it will be fine if I have to have the medical before I leave, it will just mean that I will have to pay the premium for the 2 day service on the police record request.

Thanks for any help!

You will not be given an interview date until you have had your medical...

As said above, an interview date will not be scheduled until the embassy has received your medical results (usually 4 days after the medical if there are no problems).

Thanks for the advice. My other question is, at what stage can I book the medical? Do I have to wait for packet 3 or can I book it now that I have the case number (it's been about 2 weeks, or slightly more, since the NOA2)

The waiting time for a medical exam is about 2 weeks at the moment anyway, so you should be good to book now as long as you don't take a cancellation appointment or anything.

If you know your case has left the NVC and is on it's way to London, you should be fine to go ahead.

You don't have to wait for 'packet 3'. You can book the medical as soon as you have your case number. You will need the Police Certificate for the medical. The slight caution is that you don't really want your medical results arriving at the Embassy before your file has arrived from NVC. Has you file left NVC? Have you tracked it? What is the CEAC site saying?

BTW - if you want your medical before you leave on 15th, you had better call them tomorrow. There is currently a 2 week wait to get an appointment.

So, judging on what I posted above, do you think it's safe to book it?

Yes, you should be safe to book it. Your file should be with the US Embassy in London in a couple of days and then take about a week to register with them.

BTW - that is the same update I got on the CEAC site - it's confusing as it's the Embassy who gibe you the interview, not NVC. I think it's a generic message to say it's on its way.

Hi

As a delayed follow up to this post, if your status on CEAC is as above, you're ok to book your medical and send in your docs, is that correct? Sorry for being a numpty but I don't want to mess things up at this stage?

Many thanks

Lisa

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
