The Republican Party is in a race with the future.

Though it holds power in the House of Representatives and a majority of statehouses, its demographics, for now, are going the wrong direction.

The country is becoming more urban and diverse, two details that favor Democrats. In 2012, blacks and Hispanics overwhelmingly went for the president; Obama also got 55% of the women's vote, 60% of voters under 30 and almost 70% of the vote in cities with 500,000 people or more.

“Hate is too great a burden to bear. It injures the hater more than it injures the hated.” – Coretta Scott King

"Oppressive language does more than represent violence; it is violence; does more than represent the limits of knowledge; it limits knowledge." -Toni Morrison

He who passively accepts evil is as much involved in it as he who helps to perpetrate it.

Martin Luther King, Jr.

Nah, there will always be those who cling to the conservative side of the house. The core beliefs of the GOP are reasonable to understand, it's the right wing extremists that drag it down.

I'm sure there will always be a Republican party, but it's relevance is a whole other story. Kinda like the Libertarians, their core beliefs are not all that bad either, but they cannot garner enough support to maintain relevancy.

Yep. That's exactly the problem.

I think the republican party could actually appeal to alot of working minorities if they'd get rid of the nuts. I'd guess they're the same as most Americans who wonder why they have to work they're a$$ off for a paycheck, while others can sit around and do nothing and get government assistance.

As long as the Republican base remains religion driven, they will continue to lose support.

Yep. I had an argument with one of my ex-girlfriends about this last week. She's a big-time southern baptist. She's no longer speaking to me cause I used the term "religious nuts" I wish I would've known that's all it took 10 years ago.

Southern Baptists are the absolute worst when it comes to religious nuts in the US. And they are the Republican voter base.

Yeah and they didn't used to be. That is somewhat of a new phenomenon.

I would be a republican if they got rid of the religious, gun, and billionaire agendas. Boy I sure could go for some good ole fiscal responsibility.

But but but...

Regardless of the beliefs, regardless of the plank, regardless of everything else,

The GOP in the House and Senate have a marked view of not passing anything the Kenyan wants to 'accomplish'. Been that way since day 72, IIRC.

That's not going to change until the Kenyan is out of office.

It's a concerted effort, a united front, to be certain.

Anything else the GOP might 'stand for', via beliefs, plank or everything else - it doesn't matter.

What matters is the concerted effort to oppose anything the Kenyan proposes.

FWIW, the Religious Agenda has been on the decline since Bush left. You remember, yes, of Bush engaging with the Religious Right, and promising a new system of Faith-Based Initiatives and the Federal Funding of Same...

If you want to be 'useful' - show up at the city/district caucus meetings and stir up the sh|t - I find it's quite fun to rail against any religious 'politico', right there, face to face, and in person, live. Caucus meetings are useful, it's there that plank decisions are made.

I've done it, so can you - and IMO, if 20,000 ppl do it across the USA, it's just enough to shift the Religious Right out of the Party.

How's that policy working so far in regards to the Republican party popularity?
