Booking Medical

I was approved on Friday evening . Bearing in mind the possible wait times for the medical exam i attempted to book an appointment and the receptionist will not make one without a SYD number.

I explained that i would have the number from NVC prior to the appointment but wanted to book one for 3 or 4 weeks time but she wouldn't.

Anyone have any experience or suggestions with this.

thanks

For Sydney, they will not budge. We tried to call several times and were only able to get an appointment once we had a case number. Even with the case number, they made us call back for 3 days in a row until they would schedule us. I'm not sure if this is the norm for them, but they were really back logged. Sry :( It is really frustrating

Thats really inefficient isnt it.

Just out of interest why did they make you call 3 days in a row once you had the number?

Also was it a 3 - 4 week wait?

They just kept saying that they "didn't know their schedule that far out." Which is CRAZY because we were just wanting to book 4 weeks in advance. lol It was actually a 3 week wait when we were finally able to book, so it wasn't as horrible as it's been.

Good luck guys...Brisbane is so much better because I called up and got one on the day I wanted.... I did have my number when i eventually booked but I could have booked it before I had my number because when I called to find out how long the wait time the receptionist said anytime.

Thats great about Brisbane.

If the Sydney Drs cant fit me in once I get my NVC case no I will try the Brisbane or even Melbourne Drs.

I assume its ok to get it done outside of Sydney and they just send it to the consulate?

Yep that's fine. :)

Though it's incredibly risky (though I should mention it's NOT immigration fraud) I would call and give them a number that seems right, then when you go in for the appointment I would tell them that the person on the phone must have told you wrong and hand them the letter with your actual number to "correct" the mistake. Risky and personally I would wait (and I did) but it's up to you.

Its all a bit risky really as you say.

Im going to wait and hopefully this week i will get my SYD number and can then book it assuming they have availability .

My fiancé booked his medical in Melbourne and they didn't ask him for his number until he went for his appointment. If that's any help ;) He was able to get an appointment for about 2 weeks out at that time, not sure how far out they are booked at the moment. Is Sydney still backed up from the doctor having been on leave?

The doctor is back from leave, and it was a 3 week wait when my fiancé booked recently. I would personally wait on giving them the correct number at the medical because if the wrong number gets recorded on anything, then you risk it getting lost or delayed.

As I said I did wait until I had my interview letter. I am from Brisbane that is why I went there. I probably would wait until you get the letter...just look at it like this...you have waited this long what is a few more weeks.

Does anyone know the average time between your NOA2 dated approval and receiving the SYD number?

I am in Brisbane also and can schedule easily up here to see the doctors. Unfortunately at the time the lady asked me if i had my ALIEN number (which we all get pretty much from NOA1) and then later clarified after i had booked the appointment that i needed the SYD number. I have pushed the medical out to the day before i leave overseas for 2 1/2 months holiday - It will be roughly 45 days since the dated NOA2 though. I have a feeling that wont be long enough and I am going to lose my $100 deposit :( . I have read over the different areas on this forum and the time frames, but they vary too much.

Does anyone have any personal experiences and time frames they had?

I got my NOA2 on May 22nd, and I called NVC on June 6th and was able to get my number, and was told that it had been shipped to Sydney the day before smile.png Once it's been about 7-10 days since your NOA2 you can start calling NVC and pestering them for your number wink.png And you just need the number for the medical, you don't need the actual letter or anything, at least my fiancé didn't. He just gave them the number when he went in for his appointment (Melbourne.) You should be in the clear- I don't know when you got your NOA2, but the people at the NVC were very nice when I called. Have your fiancé call them (so it's not overseas) and then text or e-mail you the number. :)
