Happy trails.

Thanks. I did look through there yesterday and I didn't see any where stating which form to use.

From the pertinent section of the above provided link to the Vancouver consulate info page (emphasis added):

"*The Consulate's website indicates that it will only process Canadian Citizens, or Canadian Permanent Residents, and that all others in Canada are handled in Montreal. HOWEVER -- per a letter sent to my fiancée (on a working-holiday visa, so NOT a Canadian permanent resident), they ALSO process individuals who have "employment authorization or are pursuing a full-time academic program of at least a year's duration."

* K2 children are only required to bring 2 photos to the Medical in Vancouver with Dr. Ian Morgan.

* ALL photos MUST BE in color.

* When at the K1 interview, they will request that your documents be in this order (updated: 2009/08/19):

1. passport
2. photographs (print name on back)
3. OF-156/DS-156
4. DS-156K
5. birth certificate (long form)
6. marriage certificate (if any)
7. termination of previous marriages
8. police certificate(s)
10. court records (if any)
11. Affidavit of Support I-134 (they will also ask for income tax returns and the W2 as supporting documentation)
12. medical (they do not ask for the chest x-ray so you don't need to bring it with you)
13. translations if necessary - email to ask them directly if the translations must be "certified" (the checklist said yes, the person said no... it can be expensive and take time so my advice is to inquire specifically and get it in writing)

Sky train is now super easy to take right from the airport. The station closest to the consulate and the clinic is Burrard Station."

You may want to review the info page again to not miss any specific requirements.

HTH.

Good luck.

Expect them to ask for your latest tax returns. Make sure you bring a copy with signature -AND- W2s plus any 1099s, etc.

Better yet, request free Tax Return Transcripts from the IRS for 2012, 2011, & 2010. This will replace the tax return/w2s/1099s, etc.

http://www.irs.gov/uac/Tax-Return-Transcripts

You want the full Tax Return Transcripts, not the Tax Account transcript.

Tax information is being asked for more and more as proof of your U.S. domicile (with U.S. address) and financial evidence.

For IR1/CR1s, the returns are also being used to show bona fide marriage evidence since the return should be filed as a joint tax return with both husband and wife on the tax returns (signed by both).
