We passed the Citizenship Test/Interview. For people who are in the NYC (Manhattan) Field Office, our appointment was at 2PM. We arrived early (since there are sometimes huge security/entrance lines) and waited. At 3:15PM, my wife was called in. I was invited to come in, but opted to wait outside for her. She was finished and came out around 3:50PM. We received our Approval/Recommendation document and said we'd likely have our Oath ceremony in the next 2-3 weeks, but that we should wait for our letter for exact details.

I had originally thought about postponing the Interview because we had travel plans, but after reading other people's accounts of having to wait another 1-3 months, we opted to just cancel the trip. We're hoping that we can get our oath done soon (or in late March) as we told the officer that we had international travel plans in early March, but we'll see what happens.

Woohoo! Approved! Dallas does same day oath and pretty much everyone else there was doing their ceremony at 1:00 today, but since Sifa is changing his name we have to wait to get a letter. I'm just glad the hard part is over! Took about 30 minutes, they didn't look at any of the documents we brought in but did look at some of the pictures we submitted back with ROC. Only asked 3 questions from teh booklet (who wrote the Declaration, who is the Commander in Chief, and name 3 of the original 13 colonies) and that's it. Easy!

What did you answer on "Name 3 of the original colonies?"

Does it refer to the 13 Original states?

Oh sorry, yes, they asked for 3 of the 13 original states (which are the same as the 13 original colonies - sorry! They asked what it asks in the booklet.)

Exactly; when the 13 British colonies declared independence, they became the 13 "united states" of America.

Unfortunately not yet. I check online daily to see if my status has changed, but it still shows Dec 23 "Scheduled for Interview".

I wasn't with the same office as you, but just to give you some perspective, my status was updated to the same as you on December 31st, I had my interview on Feb 6th and was sworn in on the 10th, and my status still says the same as on December 31st. Even though I don't care anymore, out of curiosity I still check every couple of days to see if they finally updated it tongue.png

What I'm trying to say is not to assume they always update the online status.

Timeline:

2005-04-14: met online

2005-09-03: met in person

2007-02-26: filed for K-1

2007-03-19: K-1 approved

2007-06-11: K-1 in hand

2007-07-03: arrived in USA

2007-07-21: got married, yay!

2007-07-28: applied for green card

2008-02-19: conditional green card in hand

2010-01-05: applied for removal of conditions

2010-06-14: 10-year green card in hand

2013-11-19: applied for US citizenship

2014-02-10: became a US citizen

2014-02-22: applied for US passport

I wasn't with the same office as you, but just to give you some perspective, my status was updated to the same as you on December 31st, I had my interview on Feb 6th and was sworn in on the 10th, and my status still says the same as on December 31st. Even though I don't care anymore, out of curiosity I still check every couple of days to see if they finally updated it tongue.png

What I'm trying to say is not to assume they always update the online status.

Thanks for the info, Shub. Unfortunately, we also haven't received the Oath date yet. Not a huge deal, but will just have to be patient I suppose.

06-23-10: Called DOS Hotline and was told we were approved
07-01-10: Visa received. One way tickets booked.
07-09-10: POE - Newark, NJ
07-20-10: Social Security Card received

04-16-12: I-751 Package sent
04-23-12: NOA / I-751 Received (dated 4-17-12)
05-02-12: NOA / Biometrics Appointment Scheduled
05-25-12: Biometrics Appointment
01-04-13: Greencard ordered for production
01-12-13: Greencard received

08-08-13: N-400 Package sent

08-12-13: Check cashed

08-19-13: NOA / 1-797C Received (dated 8-13-13)

08-30-13: NOA / Biometrics Appointment Scheduled

09-03-13: Biometrics Appointment

09-05-13: In line for Interview

12-23-13: Interview scheduled in the system

01-29-14: Interview Date - PASSED

04-02-14: Oath Ceremony
