We had our oath ceremony Today , finally US Citizen !!! Feels great..
It was nice ceremony, about 450 people , the USCIS director mentioned that there were 1200 people scheduled for oath today in three sessions here in Campbell Heritage Theater for San Jose Field Office. Passport officers were also present to take applications so we submitted our applications and also voter registration cards.

Thank you all fellow forum members who regularly contribute to this forum, its helps a lot for everyone through this journey..

Good luck to all who are in the process.

I just got my oath ceremony letter.

Quick question, I got a speeding ticket recently, after the interview.

In the oath ceremony letter, I need to mention about the ticket so I plan to disclose.

What do I need to bring to the ceremony? The ticket? Curiously if anyone knows what one must provide in this case.

Hi All,

I had my citizenship interview based on 3 year marriage in Chatsworth, Los Angeles, CA on 11/20/13 and thought I would share my experience.

Preparation:

I created a massive binder with tabs and table of contents for all of the documentation that could possibly be asked for by the immigration officer: copy of N400, copy of green card, marriage license, my husband's birth certificate, tax transcripts, bank statements, utilities statements, medical insurance, life insurance, paystubs with "married" as filing status, trips together, pictures, mail to both of us, credit card statemetns, and other evidence. I also put all of our bank cards, credit cards (with the same number), my id, greend card and my passport in a separate envelop to have it ready when asked.

I also took an additional small binder that contained all the forms ever issued to me by uscis, plus my birth certificate and SSN card.

I know, it was an overkill but I like to be over-prepared:)

Interview:

We got to Chatsworth 2 hours before the interview because i could not sit at home and wait any longer. To kill time we had lunch. My husband quizzed me on the history questions and 40 mins before the appointment time we entered the building. Side note: the parking is conviniently located accross the street from the immigration building and it is free.

The security check point did not have any line, so we went through it very quickly.

In the waiitng room I was called to a window for my finger prints and the picture to be taken and then I went back to waiting.

I was called in at around 2:30. So the wait was pretty long considering we got there at 1pm.

My immigration officer was a japanese lady. She was neither super friendly nor mean or rude by any means. She asked me 6 questions which I answered correctly: Why does the US flag have 13 stripes? Which ocean is on the west coast? What is the rule of law? - and the rest I do not remember unfortunately. She asked me to read: How many senators do we have? And write: We have a hundred senatros. Then she said I passed, made me put my alien number on a few pieces of paper and on my name change application.

Then she moved onto asking some questions about my marriage, where my husband works, how old he is, where we met. She asked for the most recent bank statements, medical insurance and car insurance.

Then she crossed referenced my trips outside of the US (I only had 5 - totalling 93 days) using information from the immigration database. She tried to check the stamps in my passport, but I renewed it a year earlier, so not all of the entrance stamps were there.

After that she printed the paper where she checked the box "recommended for approvaL" and said I would have my oath ceremony in December or January. She took a copy of my ID and that was it.

I think I was in her office for about 25-30 min.

I hope this is helpfull.

Updating my interview date, which is strangely going to be on a Saturday

Boston has got to be one of the slowest offices, but at least I am going to have the interview (barely) before 2014 :)

I had my interview yesterday on 25th Nov, 2013 at Irving, Texas (Dallas Office). I arrived half and hour earlier. I had to wait one hour before I was called for interview.

The interviewer was a nice lady. I answered the first 6 questions correctly. She took IRS tax return receipt (It can be ordered from IRS website)

As I applied by marriage, I already provided the marriage certificate and birth certificates of our two kids. She did not check any other proof. She said two children are best prove of marriage.

She took the copy of ID, went through the form (double check the answers) and that is it.

She told me that i have passed and I will receive the Oath letter in few days.

I was out in 15-20 minutes.

Just want to add myself into this list , I have my interview today and I filed my application back in Aug to Phoenix AZ.

I appreciate all information that other filers provided and it is time to share my own experience with other.

The interview ran smoothly. Basically we went through the questions in the form and had me to write a sentence.

The 6 questions are following : 1. when we celebrate independence day 2. what we call first ten amendment?

3. What is the movement end racial 4. Name on longest river ...... I don't remember the rest of them , because I could answer the questions without thinking.

so I don't even think any thing while answering them . But anyway it was not hard and the officer was really nice.

Congrats to everyone getting interviews and approvals. Seems like everyone around my same date is moving forward, but we're still waiting for our interview invite. I'm hopeful we'll get our interview date soon, but I'm starting to worry that it might be scheduled while we're away on Christmas vacation. Hopefully things work out.

Dammm...October filers are getting inline for interview and some got scheduled for an interview. Still some few of us are not even in inline. Spoke with tier2 IO and he told me be patient and wait. What ???? U kidding me..

Anyways I see that Ny, Philly and Atlanta office s really sucks. Way too slow.

Hi All,

Had my interview today at Long Island City, NY USCIS office and as per the interviewing officer, I did good smile.png Well passed the interview and got the oath letter at the same time. Oath is scheduled for December 10th. Here is my experience.

Interview was scheduled for 1.50PM and the USCIS office is 2 blocks away from where I work, so an off day was not needed and I have a great boss, who was kind enough to allow me to take as much time as I wanted without taking a day off.

  • Reached USCIS office at around 1.20 and was straightaway asked to go into adjacent room to have my fingerprints and photo taken. It wasn't crowded. Around 20 to 25 people either waiting for fingerprinting or waiting for their names to be called to go to a different waiting room for interview
  • Completed the biometrics and around 2 was escorted to the main waiting room on 2nd floor which was flooded with people. Rough estimate around 80-90 people were waiting for interview. I was asked to wait for my name to be called.
  • This was the hard part, waiting......... for almost 50 minutes. At around 2.50, the IO. Mr. Johnson, called out my name and I was asked to follow him.
  • Once in his office, a nice big office, I was asked to raise my right hand and take the oath.
  • He went over the N400 application form, asked SSN, DOB, Address etc and the usual yes-no questions.
  • I had a ticket from years ago, which I had disclosed on the application. He asked if it indeed was a ticket and made a note on the form. To be on a safer side, I had a clearance certificate from MTA Transit Adjudication Bureau which I handed over
  • I was asked to read "What day is the flag Day" and write "Flag day is in June"
  • Now the civics/history test:
  • I can only recollect 5 questions - 1) Pledge of Allegiance 2) Who vetoes bill 3) Capital of NY 4) Supreme law of land 5) what is an amendment 6) ?. Got all 6 right.
  • He smiled for the 1st time and said I did good.
  • Was asked to wait in the room while he gets the oath letter printed.

Was handed the oath letter at around 3.50 and the ceremony is on December 10th at 8.30 in the morning. Glad that this journey is over. Will definitely come back to share the ceremony.
