Hi VJ

I am currently waiting to hear back from the Embassy regarding my K1 interview. I work(ed) in Education, and at the moment, the school holidays are underway and due to my contract, I do not get paid for holidays - thus rendering me sort of unemployed.

I was hoping to be ready to fly out to the U.S by the end of August, but I have a feeling it is not going to happen (I recently saw a post from a U.K member who got their interview date the other day - it was for the 15th Septemeber :S).

So my question is, whilst waiting for an interview, am I allowed to apply for another job to earn some money? The thought of being unemployed for 6-8 weeks is a bit worrying, what with emigrating and getting married. Would I need to inform the embassy seeing as they wanted to know all my past employment information?

Thank-you

You can take an updated version of the DS form that asks for your employment information with you on interview day. It shouldn't cause any issues, unless you're thinking of getting a job in weapons manufacture or something. ;)

Anyway, keep your chin up - you never know, that interview letter could be on it's way and surprise you any day now.

I wouldn't bother with trying to inform them.

So where are your timeline updates past NOA2?

I was talking about the VJ timeline. It helps with all the VJ statistics. This one http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/profile.php?id=158860

When did you get your P3 letter from London?

When did you mail your application forms?

That stuff.

Nich-Nick, just figured the timeline thing out,

I'm worried because they haven't logged my DS2001. I'm assuming they do that via CEAC? Laura Clare, it's so frustrating. I feel as if my life is completely on hold. I can't work, can't study and we can't afford a plane tocket right now for him to come over and visit. If my interview is not going to be until mid-late Sept (I'm just assuming from that one recent poster whose interview is 12th Sept) I need to get a job...:(

Any change should show an update date on CEAC. However, have you tried phoning DOS to find out your current status?

And I totally empathize with you feeling like your life is on hold. I was made redundant in Nov 2012 and I didn't get another job as I thought our NOA2 was just around the corner (we had an NOA1 date if 24 July 2012). Little did I know that our NOA2 date wasn't going to be until 18 April 2013! Luckily, as I was made redundant, I did have funds to keep myself (and I did spend a lot of time in the US) but I did feel like my life was on hold. Things sped up considerably once we had the NOA2.

However, it did come to an end and we married 18 days ago.

Hi AG

When I rang them a week ago they told me they were ready to issue me with an interview date. - I guess it's a waiting game! I worked part time as a LSA in a primary school and was paid on an as-and-when basis so right now I'm not earning so I am really considering applying for another job in something like childcare just to tide me over. I mean, I could not be emigrating for another 8 weeks!
