If you were approved 7/15, then the visa should not expire until 1/15 (6 months). Double check the expiration date on the visa in your passport.

In my opinion, if you let it expire, you will need to start all over again.

A K-1 visa is valid for six months from the date of the medical, not the date of approval.

If the K-1 expires without it being used then you have to start all over again.

I can sympathize with being with family during the holiday. But Christmas comes every year. Why chance it for expiration? I would think that being with the man who you love would be most important. Remember this is just my opinion. Please dont flame me for that. The wait is so excrutiating long anyway. I sure would want to be together as soon as it was possible to travel to be together. Just my .02 cents.
