Marriage certificate - long time to get it

Hi guys,

so, my fiance and I were thinking about where to make a wedding ceremony. Since there are no relatives in US we thought about destination wedding. Only two of us.

Among all places that we discussed wedding & honeymoon on Hawaii seemed nice.

The major problem is that everybody says that you should wait a long time ( maybe more that 8 weeks) to get a wedding certificate. As I understand you need it in order to do AOS.

So where did you get marry and how fast did you get your wedding certificate ?

We eloped and did a wedding at our local Arapahoe County courthouse in Littleton, Colorado. Nothing fancy, just us and the judge. The ceremony was nice though. Short but touching. The papers were easy. Filed for a marriage license at the Recorder's Office which is about 2 minutes from the courthouse. The license was issued in 5 minutes, no waiting time and no lines. The marriage license was valid for 30 days, for marriage anywhere in the US. The lower portion of a legal sized paper had the license printed out and a blank top part for the marriage certificate that should be filled out by a judge or any authorized solemnizing officer during the marriage ceremony. We just brought that piece of paper to the judge on our wedding day and she filled it out and attached her seal. After the wedding, we hand delivered it to the Recorder's Office so they can put it on file. They only made note of the marriage, taking all info about where it happened and who solemnized it without retaining the document so you head out of there with one original copy of the Marriage Certificate and License. They also sold authenticated copies for $1 each. Easy, quick and painless. In fact, there was a couple before us that applied for a license in the morning, wedded 2:00 p.m. and had their marriage recorded after--- all in the same day.
