k-1 visa pickup

Hello VJ folks,

This post is directed to K-1 visa approvals from Nigeria.My fiancee got his visa approved yesterday and was told to pick up his visa in 2 weeks(10 working days).He was given a paper that said K1/K3 visa applicant visa pickup takes 10 working days.I ve also read here that visa is usually ready in 7 days.please whats the exact timeline from visa approval to visa pickup based on recent visa approval.Thanks a lot for the response.

Varies. My wife picked hers up in two days after her interview. Each embassy is different

i think us embassy in nigeria is a bit slower with immigrant visa pickup. my fiancee had repeatedly gone to the embassy to pick up her visa but was not ready for up to 2weeks now. she was finally told she would contacted through sms to come pick up the visa.

Did you look at the visa status through ceac.state.gov?

There have been times with Nigerian Embassy where they have said come back in two weeks. The typical estimated time is a week. Do check your case status on ceac.state.gov and see what the update says.

I have heard in the past that the machines brake down too. I believe the wait is due to too many petitions they are processing. Come the two week mark go to the embassy and see what they say. Good luck!

Nigeria has the worse machine there is. It breaks at least once a year. If your paper says two weeks they don't want to see you before that and if the machine is down it will be longer.
