Affidavit of Support: Anyone doing contract work? Was it a problem?

Hi everyone.

I do contract work, which means I move from job to job. Both last year and this year, I will made (and will make) several thousand more than the 125% of poverty level--so I should be safe right?

My fiancé is scheduled to have his K1 visa interview in Norway next month, and I am getting all of our paperwork together for the interview. I have copies of my past years' tax returns, current pay stubs, and letters from the 2 employers that I currently work for. I'm a little worried, though, that the officer will see that I move from job to job and will think I don't have a stable income.

Has anyone else ran into this problem? What did you do?

I'm even MORE concerned about the AOS process. Unless my biggest paying contract turns into a full time position, it will end December 31, 2013. This means I'll have yet another place of employment to bring to the adjustment officer.

Any advice?

13 February 2013 - Sent I-129F to Dallas Lockerbox by Express Mail
14 February 2013 - I-129F arrived at Dallas Lockerbox (according to the US Postal service confirmation receipt)
19 February 2013 - Payment check pending
19 February 2013 - Received text and email confirming application had been accepted and forwarded to the Vermont Service Center

14 June 2013 - I-129F Approved (I never received a text or email notification, even though I signed up for them.)

20 June 2013 - Hardcopy of NOA2 received in the mail

24 June 2013 - NVC received our application

26 June 2013 - NVC forwarded application to the consulate in Stockholm

I would say that from my viewpoint that you have everything to prove that you do have stable income. As long as your w2s and tax returns are somewhat consistent with being over the 125% poverty line you should be ok. I would maybe put a post-it note on your tax returns or w2 copies saying that you are a contractor for hire, and thus work for multiple employers throughout the year. To me you are almost self-employed.
