U.S. Embassy in Jamaica; 4-6 weeks to receive interview date for K1 Visa?

I received a message from the Jamaica consulate saying that it would take 4-6 weeks after they've received my file to assign an interview date for the K1 Visa. I was under the impression that it would not take that long to receive the interview date. I thought the interview would have been scheduled well before that time. Has anyone experienced the same with the Jamaica embassy?

Thanks!

Yup sounds about right. It takes a little over a month to get a date. And this has been the trend for K1 filers all year. Check some timelines as reference. Use the time to get ready as the previous person suggested. You medical alone will have to be done 2 weeks before the interview. So the time flies.

Not to mention after you are approved it takes another month or longer to get the visa in your hand!!!!! The wait is barely over but you ate half way there.

Just remember that your DS230 needs to be sent in as soon as you have a KNG# to ensure that you get an interview date assigned to you ASAP. As eveyron else has mentioned interview dates are about 2-2.5 months out from the receipt of your DS230. Your, meaning the beneficiary.

Listen we just got our interview date and it took a little over 2 weeks to get. It can take a long time but I would recommend scanning and emailing the DS320 to them once you get our kng number and follow up at least once a week. When I followed up with them I tried to be as polite as possible and that seemed to work. My fiancé got an interview date for the end of August. I truly believe keeping on top of them is key.

I am not sure about to assign the interview, but it normally takes about 2 weeks to get the interview scheduled after they receive the DS-230 part I. However, the interview may be scheduled 4-6 weeks from that date. So if you sent in the DS-230 part I today, and they assign your interview this week, you may have a September interview date.

How is everyone formatting the email that they sent to the embassy? I know that was the case number must be in the subject line but or a cover sheet on the on the attachment.

I believe that someone said to put the petitioner's and the beneficiary's names and birthdays in the body of the email.

Anything else necessary?

I just scanned it as a pdf file and attached it to email. In the body of the email, I put in my KNG number, and cntact info.

Thanks for your recommendation. I did email the DS 230 after I received the kng number and thereafter received the email message acknowledging receipt of the document and stating that in 4-6 weeks the embassy would notify us of the interview date (unfortunately not stating that the actual interview date will be in 4-6 weeks from the date I emailed them). In any event, I will, as you did--follow up on a weekly basis with a polite email requesting the interview date and pray and hope it takes them close to two weeks to recieve the interview date, rather than the 4-6 weeks they put in the email. Keeping my fingers crossed!

What is the email address that you sent the email to?

I received the same e-mail from the embassy stating the exact same, however I called DOS the very next day only to be told that an interview date and time had already been scheduled. The embassy just sent me an email confirming the appointment last week. So definitely follow up with DOS as that email appears to be a standard response, while your interview has probably already been scheduled.
