Sorry, were you asking a question? The way you phrased your latest post made it sound like an affirmation, not a question. That you knew that since you first entered the country in Oct '10, you would be eligible to apply for citizenship now. Which is correct, it seems like you can apply now. Good luck!

Yes, better to wait until you have the new green card because you will need to send a copy. No reason to worry though. There is no deadline to apply the way it was with ROC. You can apply anytime after the 90 day window opens and anytime thereafter, and it's not even required - the decision is totally on the person. There are permanent residents who remain permanent residents and never become citizens. Good luck!

Apologies if this is a stupid question, but I am a little confused:

This morning I got a text and email update. The update was that my card had been mailed to the address they have on file on July 29 (yesterday).

This is great news and I look forward to getting it in the coming days. However there was no tracking number on either the email or the online status, and when I signed in to my account on USCIS' website, the only thing I could see was that the last update was logged today (7/30) and clicking the link with my case number just took me back to the page that said the card had been mailed July 29.

I wonder if there will be yet another text/email update with the tracking number, or if that's it.

At the end of the day it doesn't matter all that much, it's just that I'd feel a little more secure having a tracking number and being able to track my envelope online, plus the excitement of knowing when it's due to arrive , but hey, even if I don't, at least I know it's on its way here and it won't be too long now

I had to sign in to my online status and clicked on my case number to see my tracking number.

My status is slightly different than this. Copy-pasting from the website:

I suppose it will either change later to include a tracking number, or it will not change at all and I will receive the card in the next few days regardless. I tried to sign in as well, but clicking on the case number only took me back to the page which I copy-pasted above. At the end of the day it doesn't matter all that much, as long as the card is safely delivered.

We shall see!

I got that same email. Followed by another email with my tracking number. Then I received this last email:

Well, my 10 year green card was delivered today, 6 short days after my initial approval notification

Very excited I'm done with immigration for good!!

Interestingly, I didn't receive any further text or email updates or a tracking number after the latest update 2 days ago saying my card had been mailed. It doesn't matter at all of course since the card is here, but I wanted to mention it, as it sounds like USCIS' updates can be very hit and miss (another explanation being that CSC and VSC each have a different system of providing updates ). In any event, it seems like the time between approval and delivery of the new card is actually short regardless of how updates are provided and with what frequency, and in the end that's all that matters

Well, I suppose you could take the tracking # off of the envelope (now) and look it up, see what's what.

That's a shame, really, there was no tracking # issued to you in 'the normal manner'.
