It will work just fine in woodstock i can guarantee you that. Plus it is not too crowded.

I would have tried every single DMV in the state if mine didn't accept the EAD because not having a DL is just impossible here...

Thanks for the Woodstock advice. I went to Woodstock on Friday (well, twice. Someone drove their semi into the DMV office and it was closed until last Tuesday). They accepted my EAD fine and I passed the written and driving test fine. The written test was 20 multiple choice questions followed by matching 15 traffic signs to 17 descriptions. I only got 3 questions wrong (none of the sign questions wrong).

The driving test was about 10 minutes. About 3 times around the block. Just normal driving and reversing around a corner. It was a doddle. I don't know why I worried so much! Maybe when they know you already have a full license in another country, they don't give you so detailed a test. I would be worried if young drivers in their first test had such an easy ride.

You are very welcome.

I had the same written test, the multiple choice and sign. It was super easy for me too compared to the french written test where you have 40 questions and can only have 5 wrong in order to pass. If i remember well i got all the multiple choice right and one mistake on the sign (din't recognize the railroad sign without the black X lol).

For the driving part it lasted about 15 minutes for me, it was also a couple drives around the block. She also had me do a back up and a park downhill and asked me questions about it (good thing i had the booklet to read before because i never knew about that uphill/downhill parking thing since i always drove manual cars in france and with the manual break it doesn't matter).

Unfortunately i think it is the same easy test for everyone... However it may not seem as easy for a first time driver or a teenager who may panic really easily. For people like us who've had their license in their home country for years the US tests sure seem to be a piece of cake! I remember when i took my driving test in france it was longer, trickier and harder as they also ask techical questions and sometimes ask us to parallel park (where just like the written test more than half first timer fail, i know many people who passed after the 2nd or 3rd time, luckily i passed everything the first time but that was hard, drivers license are such a business in France, it costs a fortune)

Yeaaa Chicago updated their processing times and they went back three days on their AOS processing times !! They are now processing May 7 2013 as of december 31st. Other offices are processing july/august or even 4/5 months.

Anna Grant, are we the only interview waived july filers left outhere? I think at this point we won't hear anything about our GC until we reach the 1 year mark... really sad... after a long K1 process i get to enjoy a long AOS process as well. I guess i will never be part of the lucky ones...

Okay since most of the offices are back tracking.... for we dont know any reason...

when do we suppose to renew our EADs? I know mine will be months ahead before it expires, I just want to be prepared and not be caught off guard with that because of this GC waiting process...

**I should have just married my husband when I went to visit him last 2012.... ugh....***

***I know i cant really do that since we didnt want to "cheat" the system***

****shoulda, woulda, coulda****

lol

Same here, when i see how fast it goes for those who cheat the system i am so pissed i did it the legal way... they are definitely not convincing in respecting the law. I think you have to send your EAD/AP renewal 90days before its expiration date.

I am not expecting to hear anything before may/june or even july for my GC...

I feel what you are all saying....considering all the money we've spent on this...it's an outrage we've had to wait this long....I am 20 years old and I filed for adjustment of status (through immediate relative, my naturalized mother) back in July and my case is still in acceptance..... I called their 800 number and a lady helped me put a service request on my application (since it's already beyond processing times for my local office, San Francisco) I am hoping to hear something other than their generic letters within a few days...I am really stressed out because I am transferring to a 4 year university this fall and I must have my green card; otherwise i don't know what i'm gonna do. I don't mean to sound like an entitled brat but....come on it's been 7 months!!!! Anyway this was my rant of the day...wish me luck with AOS and of course best of luck to y'all as well.

loladolly and Anna Grant, I'm in the Chicagoland area too, and my AOS interview was waived too. I check the uscis site maybe once every couple weeks. It doesn't bother me that much because I have the EAD and I'm busy with life and work. And if it takes a year, at this point, so be it. Only 4 more months to go ;)

Adjustment of Status:

07/09/2013 filed AOS/EAD/AP

07/15/2013 NOAs

08/07/2013 AOS RFE

08/09/2013 Biometrics

08/17/2013 RFE response received at NBC

09/11/2013 EAD/AP in production

09/19/2013 received EAD/AP

11/18/2013 potential interview waiver case notification

03/17/2014 Greencard approved and in production

What is bothering me the most is that i have to use my AP to come back. It would have been so much easier with the green card.

Let me know when you guys hear anything. I am about 2 weeks after you so if you hear something i know my turn will come soon.
