  1. 1. Chris Christie slaps the libertarian kiddies and their infantile ideology hard. Does this make you like him more or less?

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is ripping libertarians — including Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) — for challenging government surveillance programs and failing to understand the dangers of terrorism.

“This strain of libertarianism that’s going through parties right now and making big headlines I think is a very dangerous thought,” the New Jersey GOP governor said on Thursday at a Republican governors forum in Aspen, Colo. “You can name any number of people and (Paul is) one of them.”

...

“These esoteric, intellectual debates — I want them to come to New Jersey and sit across from the widows and the orphans and have that conversation. And they won’t, because that’s a much tougher conversation to have,” Christie said.

“The next attack that comes, that kills thousands of Americans as a result, people are going to be looking back on the people having this intellectual debate and wondering whether they put …” Christie said before trailing off.

...

At the forum in Aspen, Christie also praised President Barack Obama’s and George W. Bush’s policies used to fight terrorism.

“President Obama has done nothing to change the policies of the Bush administration in the war on terrorism. And I mean practically nothing,” he said. “And you know why? Cause they work.”

Everyone in the Republican party thinks they're libertarian. Until you start talking about Christian moral based legislation. Then they're ok with the govt telling people what to do.

Funny how that works.

'Libertarianism' concept and definition has 'stretched' over the past 40 years, to include a lot of silliness.

I agree with Mr. Christie on this one.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Christie's such a fair-weather friend. I can't believe you like him, OP... I do like to laugh at him when he insults people like a schoolyard bully; that is entertainment.

Republicans and Dems are identical, they only want to restrict different rights and maintain the status quo. Why should I choose between which rights I want to lose?

I couldn't care less about Christie or what he thinks. I can't vote because you do not have the "Who gives a shyt" response.

There are things I like about him and things I dislike about him.

A few small examples. I like the way he demonizes the teacher unions. I like the way he nominated that Muslim guy to the state bench even when his entire party was howling about Hizballah and the Caliphate. I dislike the way he killed the Trans Hudson rail tunnel. I enjoy his temper tantrums although I recognize that is something he needs to work on.

Oh, and I love the fact that he is out there dissing Rand Paul and all the Randian asswipes.

I give him some credit for setting aside the party line to give Obama credit where credit was due for his response to Sandy, but that doesn't really make up for him diving straight into the party line nonsense the few days before to say things like "Obama has no experience running anything and is incompetent to be a leader." I wish he would have ate his words and said "Hey, I was totally wrong, Obama rocks at this thing." But I think he just liked getting money and prancing around in his "Air Force One of NJ" official fleece coat.

He just seems like a weird east coast bully. Like that on the Fox morning show, Rosanna Scotto is her name maybe?
