Yayyyy...my July 8 approved petition, got a email yesterday from USCIS saying they shipped it to department of state for visa processing. ...anyone know how long I have left before her POE?

Ask the magic 8 ball. Depends on a few things still - getting it to the consulate near her, her getting medicals/interviews/other stuff/etc etc.

BUT THE WORST OF THE WAITING IS OVER!!!!! (Or so this site leads me to believe lol)

Anywhere from 3-5 months.

As I don't know how long it takes to schedule Malaysian interviews, I can't be sure.

I'm just wondering-you got an email saying your visa application was sent to NVC? I don't understand. I thought we had to call to see when it finally gets there. That is convenient if I read that right lol

It's the NOA2, I'm assuming.

"For approved applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include USCIS sending notification of the approved application/petition to the National Visa Center or the Department of State. For denied applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include the processing of an appeal and/or motions to reopen or reconsider and revocations."

Does it mean you got email on July 8 from USCIS that they mailed your approval and you got another email yesterday for shipping it to NVC?

I'm not understanding this either. Also, my NOA2 states it was sent to the listed consulate????? Doesn't it have to go to NVC first???? Will NVC send an email when they receive it and when they ship it to the embassy???

Can someone well seasoned answer please. Another thing...I cld be wrong, but I thought I read somewhere that the approved petition is good for four months. Mine is dated 7/22/13-10/22-13.
