I never have been able to determine how, exactly, it is called a gun "buy back" ???? Did the people buying the guns used to own them, sold them to the people bringing them in and now are "buying them back"?

Shame. I used to go to these with gun show parts guns which I had taken the parts off of that I needed. They have also been a good place for collectors to snatch up guns while people waited in line. It was often possible to buy a valuable handgun which was laying in some old lady's underwear drawer since her husband died for a very low price, but still higher than what the "buy back" offered. "Yes Ma'am, I will give you $100 for that Colt Officers Model rather than the $50 this place is offering" laughing.gif

Criminals liked these things also in order to get rid of evidence. Nothing like melting down the murder weapon! They used to be "no questions asked" laughing.gif

The message was quite clear, even for you I suspect

I have no idea what your twisted agenda is, but stop now. Gary admitted to paying elderly widows ridiculously low prices for guns because the women involved in the transaction had no idea of the real value of their guns.

Gettit?

Gary - so the state law that was passed on 1 July , requiring background checks on the holders of the firearms -

is the thing that is holding up further 'fun times', aye?

IMO, InstaCheck should be lobbied to provide the service for free, instead of all of this p|ssing and moaning about stuff,

or

'Together Colorado' should chase after a high profile IT Entreprenuer in the area to set up the booth and fund the Instacheck fee.

Something really smells of poor planning, really.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Lol. I don't agree with your opinions but you do have a good sense of humour.

I appreciate when folks disagree with me. Means they're thinking.

About like New York forgetting to exempt their law enforcement officers from their newest draconian gun laws.

Yes.

Usually gun buybacks were done without background checks since they were always between non-licensees. With the new law they cannot "buy back" guns without background checks, which kind of rules out the theory that guns that would have been used in crimes are being removed from the streets ( I never had that illusion but low information members would have) They also used to advertise "no questions asked" in order to make it appear they were collecting guns from bad people.

Under the new law they must have a way to conduct the checks and can only buy from people with no criminal record. Great idea. They did no thave the means to do the background checks and the buy back had to be postponed...or it will have to be relocated to where they can do it.

Wow! Shameless!

Not only have you been proven to be a liar, bragged about unprotected sex, you now brag about deceiving elderly old women!

Twisted .

But...what if I was lying about unprotected sex? rolleyes.gif Sorry you need protection from disease with your spouse.laughing.gif

It is not my job to educate you or little old ladies. If little old ladies are attracted to gun buybacks with offers of $50, then I will generously offer to double their money if they have something interesting. They can say "no". If people don't like that, they can stop offering gun buybacks.

In a funny side note..I was working the line at a gun buyback and came across a guy with a Colt Detective Special. I am not a Colt guy, really, but hey, if the price is right...so I offered him $100.

"No. $150"

$150? But they are only going to give you $50, why not sell it to me for $100

"Because I was told someone would be here to buy guns in the line and I should get at least $150 for it"

laughing.gif

OK. Heck, it would have been a good deal at $300! I still have that revolver but rarely use it.

For people that actually read articles before they post about them (I am still recovering from you admitting you made a judgement without reading the article) they will understand the humor of that story.

If you do not like what I do. Tough shitski.
