Hi,

I am about to travel under AP prior to AOS approval. I have the two identical AP documents and I believe one of those is retained on re-entry to the USA.

On leaving do I surrender my I-94?

And if I do am I likely to need the I-94 number from it (submitted copy with AOS) or will the one I get on re-entry to the USA be ok?

AOS/EAD/AP Filed:2006-09-23
AP Approved:2006-10-30

I don't know if you get another one when you return or not, but when you leave - the airlines person will remove the I-94 (for us it was the person in Miami who took it out of my wife's passport.) Since she had her green card already, she didn't get another I-94 when she came back. I assume you won't either but maybe someone who travelled with AP while waiting for AOS can clarify that. Good Luck

Keigwyn,

Yes, you should surrender the Departure Record when you depart. So making a photocopy of it for your personal immigration file would be a good idea in case you need to refer to it again in the future.

When you return to the USA you will have to fill out another Arrival/Departure Record. As before, the Immigration Officer will keep the Arrival section and staple the Departure section into your passport.
