So what are your thoughts about a juror that really did not agree with GZ putting aside her emotions and acquitting based on the law?

The law does allow jurors - individually and collectively - to do what they feel is right in their hearts. Had this one juror done that, there would not have been a "not guilty" verdict.

Actually I think she is stating what a lot of people thought. In her heart (emotionally), a person had been killed and someone needed to pay for that. However, after looking at the evidence and the law it was impossible to convict.

In fact, after looking at the evidence and the law, she goes so far as to conclude the case should never have gone to trial.

I agree. Completely.

The good news is that this rules out racism, unfairness, bias, and anything except a fair trial and a fair verdict. This is reason to celebrate a justice system doing as it was designed.

It is great news that each juror arrived at the same conclusion through different thought processes. It is exactly the reason for a jury. 6 people looked at the evidence, analyzed it in their own way and came to the same conclusion...NOT guilty.

It is time now to respect and honor our system and recognize that justice was served.

Someone having a problem with the law needs to work to change the law. You cannot do that with a criminal trial, that is done by legislation. There was no possibilty of changing any laws with this trial regardless of the outcome.

The law does allow jurors - individually and collectively - to do what they feel is right in their hearts. Had this one juror done that, there would not have been a "not guilty" verdict.

She chose to follow the law instead. I am good with that.

No thanks.

The offer stands if you are ever interested.

Your photo in the signature is more appropo though

Just shows are ignorant even news persons are, Hispanic is not a race, its a culture. Both my wife and stepdaughter are Hispanic, but both are from European heritage just like I am. Just so happens wife's grandparents took a boat to South America, my grandparents took a boat to North America. But race is not to be an issue in the US. But no secret that Hispanics are taking a beating from both the blacks and the Chinese. And can be the reverse as well.

If George did call 911 and the police instructed him not to follow this kid, and didn't, certainly does leave some doubts. But I only heard this on the news, the same news that calls Hispanics a race. So don't know what to believe, I wasn't there. And did that kid really beat up on that larger guy, or did that larger guy do that to himself to justify that killing?

Then even Thomas Jefferson was a hypocrite stating all men are created equal, except if you were born black. He nor others wanted to give up their slaves. Then the Civil War, no rich plantation owners there, just poor whites that had nothing to gain.

Was really horrified when my Black buddies could not sit with me at a restaurant when we were shipped down south. Wouldn't dare call them Black back then, were colored. But was okay if they died for our freedom.

True. Jurors are free to come up with any verdict they want, in almost any manner they want. Courts respect the jurors decision. In the case of a verdict of not guilty, double jeopardy would be the result if that verdict was reversed. For a guilty verdict, something else other than the jury's decision itself would be required to reverse their decision, and have a mistrial declared.

Amazing how initially three of the jurors found enough evidence to convict him of at least manslaughter. I suspect the other three were unwilling to come to a comprise verdict, and the prospect of spending another day together was more unpleasant than letting a guilty man go free. The jurors set themselves a deadline for that Saturday night and nothing was going to stop them from finishing. They even sent out for dinner.

Can't get away from God? What a joke. Then why do we bother with a justice system at all? Why not just let God handle it all?

Some people believe in Karma, and some people believe in a final judgement. According to them, George is screwed.

I guess in her mind she can have it both ways like that. Guilty and not guilty.
