Requested to do Medical Evaluation at POE

The Immigration Officer at POE requested my parents to comply the Medical Evaluation within a week of their arrival here. Anyway, they underwent Sputum Culture at SLEC and was negative. I am just wondering what is this Medical Evaluation suppose to mean? How important is this? I will appreciate your answers whoever experienced the same thing. Thanks in advance.

My wife had to do a follow up at the local health clinic after she had to do a sputum test.

They just had the TB nurse interview her at the clinic and had her do another chest x-ray to be sure she was OK.

This was no charge to us from the clinic
