Actual date of becoming USA citizen?

Hi,

I had my citizenship interview yesterday in Chicago and I pass. Now I am waiting for an Oath ceremony. I have a question, what is the actual date that you become USA citizen? Is it the date that I pass mu interview or the date that I had Oath ceremony? Is anybody know?

Because my brother wants to fill up application for tourist visa and there is a question do you have immediate relative in United States that is USA citizen or green card holder? So should he write that I am USA citizen since I passed my citizenship test, or we just going to wait until I am done with my Oath ceremony?

03-11-2010 Received Green Card!

Citizenship:

04-05-2013 application for naturalization received by uscis

05-06-2013 biometrics appointment

Oath ceremony. You are not a USC yet and it is important to know that (one guy claimed he was a USC after an interview and before the oath and they denied him citizenship). You are still a GC holder.

8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!

You are still considered Permanent Resident. You still have your green card. Once you finish the oath ceremony, hand over your green card to get your naturalization certificate, you are officially a US citizen. So right now, I would tell your brother to put you as Permanent Resident, and he can explain later on at the consular abroad if they were to ask him about your status.

Congrats on passing your interview! As of this moment you are still a green card holder and not officially a USC until AFTER the oath is said and you have your certificate in hand. All the best for the future!
